Nato's scenario for a Warsaw invasion was pretty bleak. They expected mass casualties and loss of territory all the way to the Atlantic. The use of nukes were expected to be used by both sides. By Warsaw against military bases and Nato would use them against military targets including supply lines and shipping. It was believed that Warsaw would use their superior numbers to overwhelm all Nato forces and that Nato would have to retake Europe. The first advance would have been to take West Germany, France, and Italy. These countries would have the strongest military presence. The Scandinavian countries would have been occupied secondly because they didn't really didn't pose a threat but would have been included in a Warsaw nuclear strike. Denmark was a Nato ally in 52, Finland would have tried to stay neutral but they might have had flashbacks of Russo/Finnish war. Also, France had withdrawn from Nato in 58 but if you look at Warsaw's Seven Day plan it shows that that troops stop short of the French and Danish border.

Like most countries, they are more worried about terrorism than the former Warsaw Pact so they are concentrating on anti-terrorism.
