They've only been printed since around Mercadian Masques - and that was a ghetto magazine insert. (http://www.magiclibrarities.net/121-rarities-players-guide-inserts-english-cards-index.html)

The smaller books didn't start until 9th edition iirc. (http://mtgsalvation.gamepedia.com/Fat_pack)

The last big book they did was a compilation of the other individual ones and covered up through 8th Edition (http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Encyclopedia-Magic-Gathering-Comprehensive/dp/1560254432/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1425311458&sr=1-1&keywords=9781560254430)

The editing in it is completely awful - it's basically copy paste from the original 6 encyclopedias.

That said - I miss them too. Wish they'd have done a 25th year anniversary edition - but I guess they figured it wasn't worth the poor sales these things have gotten in the past. I liked them.
