I think they are timed to place pressure on Kavie around the time that the restrictive abortion laws that eight states have passed were expected to reach the highest court in the land, even though there is no evidence that Kavanaugh opposes abortion, he has ruled in cases granting access to abortion in favor of a woman's right to chose, and he has called Roe v. Wade "settled precedent" and peppered his first round of interviews with a sometimes hostile Democratic Senate body with "stare decisis" (or ruling by precedent) enough times that they should have no reason to believe a challenge to Roe will stand as long as he sits on the bench. This is peak Culture Wars, and, by extension, Peak Idiocracy. Amanda Marcotte said it worst when she declared that Kavanaugh is clearly guilty of something because Republicans simply don't care about sexual assault, unless they get to root for its perpetrators. It's probably bad form to fight snark with snark, but I am genuinely curious: how can she divine what Republicans truly feel? I mean, to be clear, exactly how many Republicans are there roaming the halls of Salon's offices? And since she only writes pieces that have the comments section turned off, how am I supposed to take her argument, which makes hyperbole seem understated, seriously?

And hey, let's not leave out the impetus for these allegations: this book, written by reporters associated with the New York Times, and given a nice signal boost in the Grey Lady, before having to amend their story with the crucial bit of information about the alleged victim of the smoking gun incident having no recollection of it ever happening and declining to comment. (Uh, this means the claim cannot be verified and that it was grossly irresponsible to print it.)

Hey...my bad...you asked what my feelings are. Not to put too fine a point in it: I'm pissed. If you paid attention to Kavanaugh's record, you'd discover that he's a staunch defender of women, an "ally" who doesn't annoy the shit out of you by announcing how much he is "helping." He's the only current justice (and the only one ever) to have only women clerking underneath him, and this was a deliberate--though little advertised choice that he has made throughout his career to help the fairer sex get a foothold in a career track that is difficult to navigate. But as long as we don't like what we think he stands for, he is treated like red meat and fair game. Boo, fraud, and rubbish! One of the crowning achievements of my life was seeing Kavie seated alongside the other eight Justices, where he belongs.

>You want this to be false so bad that you're projecting you're own illogical conclusion on to other people.

Yeah. I don't think we should air sexual assault allegations on national TV based purely on word of mouth. Fuck me, right?

And pay no attention to the perfect timing of the book which hits bookstores and Amazon today, titled: "The Education of Kavanaugh: An Investigation". Get it while it's hot!
