recently i came across the book the forgotten highlander. Unit 731 was in charge of testing and developing newer weapons. while horrific, its nowhere near close to the horrors other experienced through much more conventional methods, designed to force prisoners to comply in order to move resources for the japanese war effort. this book gave me a few horrible nightmares, but its worth the read.

The Forgotten Highlander : A British soldier in WWII who spent years as a slave laborer on the Burmese railway. This book made me realize that while things in my life may suck, they could be much much worse.
