This article is silly, and reflects no knowledge of animals or farming. The question was realistically answered long ago in a wonderful book called The Have-More Plan which I recommend highly to anyone who is actually, in real life, interested in some level of self sufficiency.
This is such an excellent post! I'd like to see it stickied.
Also, it's worth checking your library to see if they have a copy of The Have-More Plan. It's a 1943 book on homesteading that was last updated in 1973. Well worth the money to buy it if your library doesn't have it.
