I think that about sums it up.
E: Oh, and go watch every Cowboys related "Football Life". They are fantastic. Other suggested reading: The Last Cowboy. There are some inaccuracies but it covers a really wide span of the Cowboys' history and important names.
I don’t read books and I didn’t watch football in the 70s but after a few hours of research it is mostly likely a book about TOM LANDRY (former Dallas Cowboy coach). He used to wear fedoras alot and most of his biographies and books about his strategies, etc. had a cover of him with a fedora on it. A lot of them are paperback around 300 pages too so it could be a match. Timeline fits too.
Here is an example:

Edit: Also someone mentioned seeing a strategy board on the cover so this could also explain why
Edit 2: I do realize, saying I don’t read books sounds very ignorant. By that I mean is, that I usually get to read a book once a year and it takes me a long time to finish reading.
Edit 3: The picture on this particular cover could be this one: https://d31029zd06w0t6.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/63/2019/05/Tom-Landry.jpg (just flipped)
