The Outpost: America. Alternatively learn another language (preferably Russian) and delve into the tens of Universe novels.

Or, if you also happen to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan, grab the two novels written by Bazals Pataki At least the first one isn't too bad. They're pretty much canon fanfiction until proven otherwise. GSC collaborated with the guy from my knowledge and due to what I said above they're also free.
