No. He was killed during a meeting between himself and the Parthians while trying to negotiate-- his starving and tattered army forced him to go, and a fight broke out at the meeting and he was killed. There is a story that he had molten gold poured down his throat post-mortem, but it is most likely a fiction we can thank Cassius Dio for.
You know who was executed with molten gold poured down his throat? Manius Aquilius!^[1] During the Mithridatic Wars, he was defeated by Mithridates and promptly executed (specifically in this fashion) as a symbol of Roman greed.

What a coincidence, I just finished this book. It was excellent. I recommend it.
The Poison King audiobook has a good 14-15 hours on Mithradates from his perspective, not Romes. Good choice if you have Audible.
