As a Texan, I'm very surprised! We even make our Belgian waffles into Texas ones.
I bumped into this during my drive through the state.
I can understand that, somehow, unexplainably, the Texas shaped waffles just taste better. I'll agree it's not logical, but it also seems to be true.

Just get yourself one of these which will fit nicely in the outside pocket of your luggage. Now you have two options:
1) Unplug their waffle iron and plug yours in, or
2) Get a couple scoops of batter in a coffee cup and go back to your room and make your waffles
Srious question, why not just buy your own waffle iron? Then just bribe a cook for the secret waffle recipe. A nice bottle of liquor of their choice and some green should get them to spill.
