If anyone has the time or interest I got the book “wilderness warrior” for Christmas one year talking about Roosevelt’s overall lifetime of conservation and I recommend it.

The book basically solidified my belief that he was probably the hardest President to serve in office. The guy was a machine when it came to getting outdoors.

David McCullough's book on Roosevelt's early life, Mornings on Horseback, and Douglas Brinkley's book, The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America probably fit the bill.

"The Wilderness Warrior" is one of my all time favorites, but it focuses primarily on his conservation efforts, so if that's not your bag then you may not love it.

If you're interested in a much broader range of TR lore, you can't beat Edmund Morris' trilogy which starts with "The Rise of"

If you want a lighter, quicker read, McCullough's "Mornings on Horseback" is great. I also really enjoyed "Roosevelt in the Badlands" by Roger DiSilvestro. It's admittedly sort of a niche book with a fairly narrow focus, but the prose is really engaging and that part of TR's life is really interesting.

Hope this helps!
