These books are pretty good describing the situation before and during WWII.
As for teaching: history is taught in a pretty neutral fashion; no heroic struggle, no idolization of anyone. It's still taught more anti-Horthy than anything, really. They do stress we were on the wrong side.
And nobody in their right mind thinks about the war against the USSR as anything other than an unmitigated disaster. We lost a lot of people there. It has nothing to do with the Russian occupation (which was not as brutal as you think). They did rob, murder and rape, but it was mercifully a short period during the war. (And was nothing like the Germans' actions in the Eastern Front I might add.) Our stalinist period of terror was the result of our own dear (Russian puppet) leaders.
