Scruton says Sartre was directly responsible for Saloth Sar (Pol Pot) in his Fools, Frauds and Firebrands. After reading that I wondered whether it's true and did some research. We know that Pol Pot was definitely in Paris and attended Sartre's circle and lectures but its dubious whether Sartre had personal interaction with him. Just because Pol Pot attended Sartre's lectures it doesn't mean he fueled Pol Pot with rage or he was responsible. However at the time French left was pretty radical, so it's probable that Sartre passed his radicalism unto his students.
