No problem! Don't be afraid. Art is iterative. You won't further yourself if you don't move foward.
If you want, do what I do on some charcoal pieces: line the irises. Mama - well Margaret Qualley - has very sharp eyes. They jump out when you look at her because there's this vivid intensity to them. Instead of coloring everything, just color the eyes. Not in one blotch; use careful line work to create a gradient. A few lines of a deep blue where things are dark, then a pale blue where its light. Can add in some green.
Make it like hair, almost. Individual lines that are close together.
I noticed that doing line work on the eyes can make a piece pop without ruining the overall aesthetic of it being monochrome.
