Not according to everyone. There's a new view that Grant's legacy was undeservedly trashed as part of reconciling with Southerners after Reconstruction. He had the best record on African American rights of any President between Lincoln and LBJ, and was one of the first presidents to put forth ideas about Native Americans that didn't involve just killing or relocating them.

As far as I've heard, none of the corruption of Grant's presidency was actually attributable to him. He wasn't corrupt himself, just inept. I've never heard anything about him being chronically unprepared for battle or being a bad general, just that he wasn't actually particularly good - and that's debated. And alcoholism is a disease, not a moral failing. It's not something you admire about a person, but it's not like being an alcoholic means the person has no other good qualities.
