Jeez, that's hard. I feel like his best bet would be this case called "The Quiver" https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Carrying-Exterior-Dividers-Compatible/dp/B00XYC3MNI and then a couple smaller double deck boxes like these https://www.amazon.com/Card-Twin-Flip-Xenoskin-Black/dp/B016CWIEMK. I have both of those and they're kinda expensive, but the quiver holds 5ish double sleeved commander decks, and the ultimate guard holds 2 double sleeved commander decks plus a little dice compartment. You could probably squish a 6th in the quiver, but I would rather not risk damaging my cards. So maybe 2 quivers or some combination of quivers and double deck boxes? Or maybe a better option would be to take a look at a pirate lab bag like this one https://www.amazon.com/Pirate-Lab-Large-Collectible-Carrying/dp/B01M9B7W47 unfortunately I don't have any experience with that bag though so I can't speak for it's quality. These have served me well and even work with double sleeved cards.
I have recently converted to (ultimate gaurd 200 card xenoskins)[https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016CWIEMK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523763699&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=deck+box+200&dpPl=1&dpID=41O5eN5n0kL&ref=plSrch] and while I am more happy with these I am still not satisfied as they have some serious disadvantages for EDH storage. First I tossed out the drawer trays entirely as they don't work for double sleeved cards. Next I found that I have to be very careful not to catch the sharp corners of the sleeves on the zeno skin as it will bind up and bend the cards. Lastly you must turn the box upside down to get your deck out.
Even with these small annoyances these are very nice with magnetic closures, and they seem to protect cards well. The materials are quality and they feel tactically pleasant.
My next step is to get a metal briefcase to house 4 of these.

I have both a Legion Vault V2 and an Ultimate Guard Twin Flip N Tray 200.
Both fit 2 decks plus dice (up to 24 dice per deck). Durability-wise, the Legion box is higher quality, but the UG isn't terrible. My primary box is the UG simply because of the removable tray for storing tokens. While the middle slot is removable from the Legion, it's more of a box and less of a tray -- meaning you have to dump your tokens on the table. That alone is enough for me to not use it for events, so I just use it to keep extra decks for playing at home.
Yeah, it's a matter of getting the cards out of the box really, storing the cards flat makes that difficult, but that said it's not an insurmountable problem. Some boxes come with little trays^1 to hold the cards^2.
You could definitely use a thicker book. I have a few hollowed out books that I've been given as gifts or bought for myself. One I have is completely fake, made entirely of wood but leather over the spine, looks like an old book as stored. That book is absolutely big enough to hold deck boxes. Others are soaked with epoxy or glue or even mechanically secured with something that looks like rivets.
Take a look specifically at the Boulder 75. If you can make a book that will conceal that then you are in the money.
Also, I really wouldn't worry about dice. There are deck boxes meant to be taken to events and used, they're boxes like the Boulder, but there are also deck boxes meant to be taken off the shelf and used at home.
You can definitely use non-magic related books. I think stacking a few Children's Illustrated Classics together might make a real nice box. Honestly it looks like you could get at least 3x boulder 75 or 2x boulder 100's inside a stack of 4 or 5 of those.
Maybe a hardcover harry potter book would work too.
I come from playing Magic and use the Satin Towers all the time. I just wanted to add 2 more options that are on the market that I have used for Magic that could translate to great storage options here. The Dex box is a great value and the Ultimate Guard is a bit high in price. Just wanted to showcase a couple more options for everyone.
