The Yugioh "Duel Links" app is very different than the actual card game. The rules are similar but simplified, and the card pool is dramatically smaller. As a result, cards that are competitive in Duel Links are often garbage in real life, and vice versa.
If you'd like to get him something tangible, consider getting his favorite card(s) and assemble a nice display.
TcgPlayer.com is the place where everyone buys Yugioh cards. I bought some screw-down cases online (link below) and a wooden plaque (also below). Placed the cards into the cases, screwed then shut, then crazy-glued the cases to the plaque.

I bought 2 batches of 25 for 25 a year ago, I did a quick search and didn鈥檛 find them, cheaply eBay?
You can bolt it into a 1/4" thick block of lucite and display it. Also protects it from UV fading. Not even joking.
Ninja edit: The Ultra Pro one is superior and cheaper, has a recess to retain the card.
