The Pilot V7 was a longtime favorite of mine. I never thought I'd have good reason to say this online, but I worked at Office Depot through college and got to try out pretty much a million different pens. Being a bit of a penmanship guy it was fun. I eventually landed on the Uni-ball Jetstream Ballpoint - fine tip, just the capped kind, not retractable - and it's been my weapon of choice for at least 10 years. Smoother than hot ice skate blades running on a freshly zamboni'd rink, and no bleeding. Funny how Reddit brings people together like this lol

Came here to say this exact thing.

I enjoy the .7mm pens over the 1.0mm and the capped pen over retractable. But I can't find a capped one that's in 0.7mm.

Edit: Never looked on Amazon. Found my favorite pen ever

My dad made me practice practice practice my penmanship when I was younger. So every time there was a scrap piece of paper and a pen, I would practice my signature and alpha numeric characters. As I got older, I fine-tuned my penmanship style and kept practicing. My father's penmanship is very precise with straight edges and few loops. All his letters are the same height (he writes in all caps) with a slight slant. My penmanship is usually pretty vertical and has more loops. I think the only rule is that it has to be neat and legible.

Some things that I found that help me write more neatly:

A smooth pen or a sharp pencil.

At least one piece of paper underneath the thing I am writing on.

Taking my time. If I am writing something that will be permanent (like labeling something with a permanent marker), I may practice once or twice on a sheet of paper and make sure that all the letters will fit and there is even spacing. If writing a letter, I will think about what I want to write first, then write it down (this also helps with editing). If I am filling a form, I will increase the space between all my letters so that way they can all be read clearly.
