Not quite the exact color you wanted, but pretty close.
I got my wired xbox 360 controller to work with the N64 emulator Mupen64Plus FZ with no problems. USB OTG worked with a lot of other usb devices. The only thing it wouldn't power is an usb power only hard drive.
My guess is the adapter or cable is faulty. Have you tested it with other devices like a usb flash drive, keyboard, or mouse? If it still doesn't work I'd recommend trying a USB 3.0 OTG cable. This is the one I have and it works great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FM51812/
