Short answer: Yes
Reasonably difficult. You would need to remove the gearbox from the gun, mark, drill and tap holes in the receiver, and then screw in a sidemount (possible adhering it with epoxy glue for strength), making sure that the screws didn't interfere with the gearbox. Then you'd have to reassemble the gun correctly. You can buy a RS sidemount, or a cheap airsoft one.
It's not impossible by any means, but it's a big step up from just switching out a handguard. Watch some YouTube videos on airsoft AK disassembly to get a feel for it.

Drill holes in side of receiver and bolt it on. Would recommend some red loctite. Then buy the scope mount..

Here's a link to a side mount plate. Look on youtube for instructions. You drill the receiver. There are also gas tube mounts. Replacing the upper handguard and gas tube with a railed gas tube.

why it has such high review is beyond me. It's known that most mounts won't retain zero with the beveled rear stop surface.
Here's the side plate. I think you'll have to drill and tap the receiver to fit it but I've never really looked into installing one.
You might be better off getting a rail sight replacement to mount an optic.
Not sure if it will fit, but Amazon has one for $8.
