I made my own "smart" power strip with this, powered on/off with the PSU, and a short 3 outlet power strip.

Have the Arduino trigger a relay (4 x AA batteries as a power source) which ignites the Estes motor.

The relay and optocoupler solutions have the advantage of the circuits being independant.
