Ever thought about having your monitors go vertical with a monitor arm like this?

Could obviously get a bigger desk but if that isn't possible you could try some speaker stands or arms as well!

Thank you I've been slowly getting it together. It's this one from Amazon. Spent a little bit getting it just right but couldn't be happier with the outcome. Was worried about clearances but this gave me plenty of space. https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Standing-Vertical-STAND-V002H/dp/B00MTWCO1U

This is the one i got. Setup was kinda hard to get it positioned right but works great!

The stormtrooper screen is on this and Vader/Ren are on this

Ended up with going with 2x of these monitors for now. Was planning on getting four, but figured I'd give two a go first and they've proven to be plenty amount of screen for me so far. Just using the mount they came with on my desk, could stack them or do a 2x2 with this deskmount, which has been shown to be effective for ultrawide monitors on youtube though I've yet to unbox it as I'm enjoying my horizontally aligned monitor setup right now.

I'm really liking the monitors and setup I have right now, but it's such a huge upgrade from what I had, I'm sure I'd say the same about any of these options.

Ultrawide is cool, don't have much to compare it to, but it's great for the charting (stock market stuff) I do and I typically keep two browser windows open per screen. Full screen videos look a little odd, not sure how the monitors work out with games - my unresearched belief is that some games work very well on ultrawide (you get a far better field of view) and, others, not so great (two black bars on the sides).

In the end, I came to think that refresh rate matters a lot less for productivity work than I previously thought when I made this post, and ended up deciding between the following (note: the prices were a bit different when I was deciding):

also note that all the following have VESA mount and use flicker free technology

$240-260 ViewSonic 27" 16:9 IPS 1440p

$300 ViewSonic 32" 16:9 IPS 1440p

$600 Pixio 34" ultrawide PVA 1440p curved - I thought this was IPS, not sure what my mindset was earlier

$550 LG 34" ultrawide IPS 1440p curved - the one I went with

and if you're still looking for a desk/chair, I'm using a sitting/standing desk and chair that I got from Fully which I've found to be fantastic so far (though, again, nothing to really compare it to)!

I am eyeing this model too. The monitor itself is 19.9 lbs, 26.7 lbs with stand. The whole packaging is 43 lbs. Manual

I plan to buy this mount. It can hold up to 33lbs. But you may not like it due to the large legs https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Standing-Vertical-STAND-V002H/dp/B00MTWCO1U/

u/Kagrenac00 · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

The top post has a good mount, but I thought I'd include another option in case your desk won't work with a clamp like that (mine didn't). This [mount](VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Desk Stand Free Standing Vertical 2 Screens up to 27" Black (STAND-V002H) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTWCO1U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LW.qzbK9FFYMK) is what I've been using since my desk wouldn't work with a clamp and it's been wonderful and super stable.

I went completely overboard and bought Ergotron LX with a tall pole. You can get away with a much cheaper setup if you do not want to move the monitors around. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTWCO1U

Some setups with that.

I have the VIVO STAND-V002H which works well but the base was a little bit warped. If you can afford it, I would say to go with the VIVO STAND-V002L As it has soft foam on the bottom (according to a reviewer) that won't scratch your desk.

u/SyndicusX · 1 pointr/battlestations

The stand looks similar to mine. I believe it's this one.

I have this stand for my main monitors. I could adjust the one on the bottom to do this setup:

I'm think about buying this vertical, freestanding, dual monitor stand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MTWCO1U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3W3STWCK1O3NR&psc=1

I want to purchase a freestanding stand instead of one that utilizes a clamp because my desk doesn't have edges that a stand can properly clamp on to. I have two cats though. My worry is that they occasionally like to get on my desk to look out the window. My question is, to anyone who owns these kinds of stands or has pets: How sturdy are these freestanding monitor stands and will they fall over if a cat decides to put its weight on it for some ungodly reason?

My plan is to put a 17 pound 27" on the bottom and a 7 pound 21" monitor on the top.

u/ImaEvilDoctor · 1 pointr/battlestations

Guessing, but looks like the VIVO Dual Freestanding Monitor Arm. I've used something similar at my previous job and have another one with a different base at home. Easily supports 22-23" monitors, but I haven't tried mounting 27" that the vendor claims it can handle.

u/Cocoasprinkles · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

this one

It is a little bit on the tall side but once I finalize the position of the monitors i'll give it a haircut in line with the top monitor.

Maybe I explained it wrong.

I want the monitors to be stacked vertically.

But I need it to be able to support a 26lbs monitor that's also 35"

Thank you very much! And this is the mount I went with!

I just ordered this stand from Amazon and it should be coming in later today. I got it for my LG 34UC88 (also coming in later today!) and my current 23" 1080p monitor. I'll be mounting my 34" ultrawide on the bottom with the 23" on top. I chose a stand over a clamp because I have an Ikea Linnmon desk and didn't like the idea of having the weight of two monitors in one spot. I'll try to post ascension pics when I get my desk cleaned up!

u/ragingkittai · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

I actually just changed my setup today, and I think I have exactly the pictures you need.

Top is old, with a 1440p 27" monitor top. it was nice but a bit of a strain on my neck to look up and down that far (I have a sit/stand desk and i had to look down too far at my UW when sitting, and up too far at my 1440p when standing). I replaced it with the tiny 25" 2560x1080 UW and i like it a lot so far. It's easier to look up and down, and the side by side window split on the little one is a really good size. Plus I got it for $120.

My monitor stand

Another from same company that might work and is $20 cheaper

Bottom: MSI MAG27CQ

So if you were to stare at the top one for an extended time, it wouldn’t be great. But it’s my second monitor and just glancing at it every so often is perfectly fine.

Didn't use anything different for screws, the same ones that came in the box with the stands. This is the stand I got.

I'll get you my calibration settings when I Get home.

I have an aw3418dw and an older flat LG ultrawide on the stand below. A friend has the same Alienware and an x34. Works great, just tighten everything up well. I absolutely love the setup!

It's a two high stand : VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Desk Stand Free Standing Vertical 2 Screens up to 27" Black (STAND-V002H) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTWCO1U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FRT5xb1GKR20D

I like it a lot.

u/1locke · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

The two monitors should be around the same width, so they'd line up nicely. Something like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTWCO1U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_c8yEybQ9ZEJ6P) should work to mount them. If you're not a fan of the large base, I just searched "dual monitor stand vertical" and there are options with desk clamp bases (which I would get if it were me). And I don't think there's a need to keep the ultrawide on its original base, and frankly think an arm or mount would look better, but in the end it's up to you.
