I owned a first generation Su-Pen, and the Bamboo Solo 3 (my personal favorite), along with some crappy ones. I do believe all of these are compatible with all capacitive touch screens (basically all modern devices). I can personally confirm it works on an LG Volt, OnePlus 2, Nexus 6p, and iPhone 5s, and have no reason to believe it wouldn't work on any other phone.

I recommend definitely getting a carbon-fiber mesh tip kind (like Su-Pen and the Solo). The rubbery tipped ones always dropped orbs for me, and don't give good enough tactile feedback imo - the mesh ones tend to be pretty rigid, with only a bit of give, while the rubber ones are like small balloons with a lot of slack.

The newest Su-Pens have customizable art, metal bodies, replaceable tips, and a cap. (the old one had a rubber body that eventually started leaving black marks on my hand, and no cap to protect tip so it started fraying). It costs upwards of 30 bucks though, and reminds me of erm... another type of toy.

The Solo 3 is around 10-20 bucks, has a cap, and a replaceable tip. It's shorter than the new Su-Pen (I think. This one is ~5 inches or 13cm). I got a 2-pack of replaceable tips a long time ago for 5 bucks, but now it's like 15, so no longer as price-efficient. The cap doesn't actually stay on the back of the pen, that's my only complaint. I recommend this over other generations, including the newer one. I still currently use this, I have one that's about a year old, still going strong, and I have a back-up pen and 2 replacement tips still.

I use the Bamboo Stylus Solo (gen 3) its amazing, light weight and it's tip is carbon fiber so its really smooth and fast. You can get them at best buy, but they are exactly 20 dollars so I don't know if you want to do that. My experiences with the rubber tips are pretty bad though

Edit: This is the stylus if you're interested

I've been using the Wacom Gen 3 Stylus Solo (http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Windows-tablets-Samsung/dp/B00M9B2OIO/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1450510629&sr=1-2&keywords=bamboo+stylus), and I'm pretty happy with it. It has a carbon fiber tip, so it doesn't stick to my screen like I've had other styli with rubber tips do. The tip is also replaceable, so if the tip does break, you can keep using the stylus with a quick switch. If you prefer the dual stylus/pen option, they have one with a pen cart attached (http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-ballpoint-Windows-tablets-Samsung/dp/B00M9B2J7A/ref=pd_sim_147_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=21ffSeqHGHL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1XQ3WMV3E7CA901JDHXA).
