Yep, I purchased the same exact HDD. WD Black Series is baller, go for this one OP.

Link to WD Black Series 2TB Hard Drive

Link to USB 3.0 Rosewill Enclosure with cooling fan I highly recommend this enclosure. It's great!

PSA: You can buy a 7200 RPM HDD and then buy a USB enclosure for it.

Buy This and put it in this or this.

You can also buy SSD enclosures as well. Now the downside to the enclosures is usually you have to plug them in, so if you were looking for a portable harddrive that was powered over USB you're SOL in this department.

Its this one. There were some deals where it was at $90ish a couple of months ago. You need to find an external enclosure to put it in. If you want to save money, go a step down to a 1tb wd black or a 1tb WD Blue.

Make sure the enclosure is usb 3.0 and supports sata 3

This is the enclosure I use. Used to use it on my pc but swapped it over to the xb one.

I am immensely happy with my SanDisk Extreme II. There are cheaper companies offering 240 GB for the same price point as SanDisk's 120 GB, but it is good practice to only put your OS and essential/slow loading programs on your SSD - so getting a higher quality one was worth losing the extra gigs, in my opinion. I also went Western Digital Black for my hard drive, but in all actuality the Green would probably be fine as it's not that much slower but is a lot quieter.

If you're currently using a HDD for your OS, absolutely make the transition to a SSD and prepare to be impressed with how fast your system loads up. It's great!

u/MioCuggino · 3 pointsr/italy

Domanda informatica:

Wd Blue da 4TB, oppure WD Black da 2TB?

Scopo: Storage dei giochi (ho gia un SSD da 500GB per il sistema operativo).

(Comunque in entrambi i casi: prezzi altissimi!)

u/Aurunemaru · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

since you had a SSHDD:

I got a 2TB WD Black last year, it's blazing fast considering it's a normal HDD, and it's less parts to fail without being a hybrid [CITATION NEEDED]

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1505941461&sr=1-3&keywords=WD%2BBLACK&th=1

u/mrkravin · 2 pointsr/letsplay

Sorry, forgot to check in on this! That is a bit slow for the HD footage you're trying to capture. I'd suggest upgrading your recording drive to something faster. I record to a Western Digital Black. My write speed is 120MB/s, which lets me do HD captures without skipping. That ~could~ be a solution for you.

u/Museus · 2 pointsr/techsupport

I have always used Western Digital drives. At the moment, you can get a 1TB Velociraptor for about $200, but that's kind of overkill, especially if you will be using a USB dock. You may be better off with a Black drive, which is fairly cheap at the moment. Various sizes available here
Honestly, the read and write limit may be more on the dock side of things, than the hard drive. You may want to upgrade that, as well. (This one is only $40)
For your self-powered device, there's one here that is only $70 for 1TB.
I'm sure you already know this, but any USB-powered device is going to take a serious toll on your battery life.

So short-list:
Docking Station
Hard Drive
External

Hope this helped.

u/kuranei · 2 pointsr/techsupport

I would recommend the WD Black 2 TB. http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Cache-Desktop-WD2003FZEX/dp/B00FJRS628/

they come with a 5 year warranty, and are very fast.

u/Rastuasi · 2 pointsr/PixelBook

They do over standard drives that are not in the Black series (name of the drive you can find). The only caveat is any SSD will die in a year to three max, they have terrible quality and fragmentation issues. The Black series HDD, I have had them in my systems and have kept the same 3, but have replaced 10 SSDs in the past 5 years of trying them. I never vouch for SSD anymore, they're just fancy money pits imo.

Now for my personal use, when traveling (so not my home external drive), I use this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KF4E83G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I then of course have a usb A to USB C hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077P5SZV7/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That hard drive, I have driven over it with a car accidentally, dropped it in the pond outside my porch and it still is going. Tough as nails.. and on my arch linux system at home, it boots up the scenery for xplane 11 faster on usb 3 than the ssd does on sata, but that may vary per your system (if windows, don't expect anything to be fast).

Oh and since you asked, here's a quick link to one of the many varieties of the Black series drives for computers (albeit internal drive):

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1535938074&sr=1-3&keywords=black+series+2tb+3.5%22+7200rpm+internal+hard+drive

u/spider-borg · 2 pointsr/techsupport

I don’t know why I thought it was a laptop. That’ll teach me not to Reddit as soon as I wake up haha.

Yeah desktops are way easier to replace a hard drive most of the time. The cables can’t be plugged in the wrong way or anything so the risk of messing something up is very low. Have you opened the case to see what you’re looking at? It’s usually pretty straight forward. Just 2 screws on each side of the drive. Or some computer cases have little plastic clips that you can use to slide the drive in and out without using screws. I’m sure you can figure it out either way. If it looks confusing you can always post a picture of the inside of your case and I would be glad to walk you through the process.

An SSD works the same way as a HDD but depending on how old your PC is, there could be some compatibility issues with AHCI settings, etc. so it may be better to get a regular HDD. WD also makes 7200rpm drives if you’re concerned about speed.

u/Nillaasek · 2 pointsr/computers

I'd just grab any drive from some well known brand such as Western Digital or Seagate for example

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1549222239&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=hdd+7200+rpm&dpPl=1&dpID=510k1MsYuoL&ref=plSrch

This one is 2TB 7200 rpm, I'd pick this one because it's fast, or there are plenty of 3TB 5400 rpm for about the same price

u/MacTechReviews · 2 pointsr/buildapc

If you are using this as a boot disk. DO NOT get the WD Green.

  1. It runs at around 5400rpm. It's meant to be a low power using low heat output eco drive.
  2. It uses a different driver than the WD Greens or Blues sometimes making it impossible to install an OS that isn't windows on it (trust me, I've made that mistake before).

I'd recommend you get the [2TB WD Black drive] (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Cache-Desktop-WD2003FZEX/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415416018&sr=8-1&keywords=2tb+western+digital+black). This drive offers fast enough performance to be a main boot disk.
u/Drivingmecrazeh · 2 pointsr/techsupport

What 2TB hard drive should I get that isn't too expensive?

Since you didnt mention any specs for the drive (2.5" or 3.5"), or price range, you can get http://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/ or http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000DX001/dp/B00EIQTKAS/ provided this is a desktop. If not, let me know and I can recommend a 2TB 2.5" drive.

How should I go about installing it? It's been a while since I've replace a hard drive.

Each desktop and laptop will be different, so providing a model number would be helpful. However, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orAPCdr88hY shows how to do it on a desktop.

I didn't make a recovery drive. Can I just download the recovery file from Microsoft using my spouse's computer to reinstall windows?

Yes, just download the right ISO image from Microsoft. It should match up to the activation key you have on your computer (look for a sticker on the body of the computer). Go to https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap/#icon-eye-blue and look at the side bar for your operating system.

They do make one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FJRS628/

If you look at the 4th picture it gives, you can see the pins.

u/alioh · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

should i get 500gb ssd instead of the 250gb? i am planning also on adding another storage probably going to go with this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJRS628

u/PistFump · 1 pointr/edmproduction

can you paste a pc part picker list? that seems kind of confusing

From what i can see, its fine. You DO want 16 gigs (cheap anyways), but I would go for 2 8 gig sticks so you cna have room for expansion down the road if need be.

also, SSD is a must for the main apps and one 2 terrabyte HDD is perfect for all your data and sound libraries

I got this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJRS628/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also recommend getting this and setting it as your file history location for both your SSD and HDD

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EAS87J4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And no, you can never overkill a CPU, I have the 4790 (non-k) in my build and i can still max it out with too many things (any CPU has its limitations).

If you can, invest in a good case with sound dampening, it makes a world of difference

I need another internal HDD which is used primarily for photos and some videos (not movies, just short videos I record with my camera or phone). I usually use Lightroom for editing. I currently have a Western Digital Black and a Seagate Barracuda 7200. I was happy with both of them but I need more space. What are your suggestions for my next purchase?

u/erts · 1 pointr/xboxone

I'm getting framedrops with Battfield Hardline whenever I get killed by someone - I thought it may be the external harddrive I'm using, but this is the one so I'm unsure as to why that would be the reason. Could it infact be the Xbox?

u/SaSLazarus · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

It is yea, this one to be precise: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FJRS628/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I shouldn't need a mount then and just screws in the side?

u/TGPrankster · 1 pointr/PCHardware

Just got a new Western Digital 2TB 3.5-Inch SATA 7200 RPM 64MB, Black from Amazon. It's just a storage drive and there's nothing important on it that isn't backed up regularly, but I'm wondering if I should return it. It's made this sound since I installed it (only after shutdown) but shows no diagnostic problems.

u/Beznia · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I have a WD 2TB Black hard drive for $75 shipped. Has a 5 year warranty and used for only 805 hours.

u/OutRide9 · 1 pointr/computers

Everything looks great!

Seagate barracuda's have a history of being faulty/failing, it's practically hit or miss, you might get a good or a bad one, hence the cheap price. however, I've had one for over a year now and no problems.

I'd really recommend the Western digital Black, High preformance drive, great for gaming!

Here’s the one I currently use: WD Black 2TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD2003FZEX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yN7WCbRF43KVJ
I’ve had no problems over about a year compared to in the past where I had 2 Seagates fail in a year (granted everyone’s experience is different)

u/joezoey · 1 pointr/buildapc

That's a pretty good idea. By the way, I have to store a ton of PDF files for work, so I'm thinking of getting a 2TB secondary hard drive instead of the 1TB one, would you go with this one?

Thanks!

u/Cptnawesome2830 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hey, thanks for your reply first of all.
I'm not planning on overclocking, at least not doing it myself.
The WD drive i plan on getting is this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482485831&sr=1-1&keywords=Western+Digital+Black+2TB

This should be a good build for my purposes then? Basically only gaming.
Do you happen to know if there are any parts I could "replace" that are equally good, but in a lower price range?

Thanks!

u/BySumbergsStache · 1 pointr/buildapc

Do the higher priced WD Blacks offer a significant advantage over the cheaper drives? Something like this

u/KamasutraBlackBelt · 1 pointr/hackintosh

Setup is quite easy (had a few hiccups in my case of having to set the right boot flags while setting up the OSX drive, otherwise no other issues).

In my case I installed Windows first, then used the Unibeast method (via Tonymacx86) to install OSX, then Multibeast to install the drivers and bootloader, and then moved the OSX drive at a higher boot priority.

Also you might want to look at the Samsung 850 Pro - its a bit more expensive than the Kingston, but the performance has been outstanding for me. Also if you plan on using the OSX for video editing I would suggest the Western Digital Black hard drives.

u/GeorgeMKane · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd recommend the Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler, because of the great reviews alone. You could save more money to put towards the hard drive.

I recommend a 250-500GB solid state drive, and then go with a 2TB or 4TB hard drive.

A lot of games are going up with their minimum storage space needed. AC Odyssey is close to 50GB for the install, not including additional DLC. Also, you might want to buy that one on Steam right now, if you haven't already. It's on sale. ;)

u/Cyanide72 · 1 pointr/forza

I do own both the expansions and yes, my HDD is a 7,200RPM one, specifically this one. I’ve owned the game since launch and never experienced this issue, wonder if it’s a bottleneck somewhere else?

u/JimmyHopkins47 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm thinking about getting a new external hard drive, or at least an enclosure to put a HDD in, to replace my two 500GB external hdds from 10 years ago (one is a backup of the other). They show no signs of failing, but I definitely have stuff that I will miss if I lose it.

Is this enclosure good? I will probably put a 2TB WD Black in it if possible.

u/dingusdongus · 1 pointr/techsupport

I'd recommend getting an external drive enclosure then putting a drive in yourself.

This StarTech enclosure is supposed to be pretty good:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707329

Then pop in a 2TB Western Digital Black drive, which is a high performance drive, and you're still under $200:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=twister_B00G6D6JXC

u/Baregil · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Looks pretty good. I would highly recommend having the 250gb ssd and a larger hard drive. Skyrim itself with a bunch of mods will eat through that SSD. I would go with the WD Black 2tb

But yeah this will definitely be great for gaming

u/indyK1ng · 0 pointsr/boston

That's enough for 132 2 TB hard drives. Even including backups, that's 132 terabytes of video. Per month. Are these 8k body cameras?
