As an artist, children in museums and galleries make me nervous. Too many works and too many sticky, grabby hands. The little ones just don't get too much out of it. I have never seen a happy small child in a fine arts gallery.
Although, children are the reason for my favorite funniest museum moment. My family and I were in the gift shop of the St. Pete MoA and I found this satire book in the children's section (it's funny and highly inappropriate). When we said something to the cashier, she said that she's gotten a lot of people saying the same thing, but every time that they moved the books out of the children's section, their boss would throw a fit and make them put it back.
I would have loved to see the aftermath of a small kid picking up that book and asking their parent about God being dead.
