It depends on what your budget is. You can get a decent pair for less than £20 (Sony Closed in-ears £17/$27) or you can spend a bit more (Klipsch S4's £43/$68) or you can go totally nuts (Westone UM2's £179/$286 or Grado GR8's etc).

If you have a budget in mind let me know, cause I just spent a good couple days researching a new pair I bought and it might save you some time.

I've used the same pair of Westone UM2's for probably 5 years now and will never (for the foreseeable future) use a different set of in-ears. I've used them while drumming both live and in the studio, playing bass live, both rhythm and electric guitar live, and for random mixing duties. They have absolutely no wear despite flying/driving/rattling around in a cymbal case all over the country. Probably the biggest testament to their comfort is the fact that I wore them 8+ hours/day while motorcycling out to Sturgis one year and found my butt to be the part of my body that hurt enough to make me stop - didn't feel a thing from the in-ears.

Oh, and sound isolation is about normal for most good in-ears at probably about 29 db loss. Can't get much more than that as the sound is then conducted through the bones in your head.

I've tried Shure's and Ultimate Ears' offerings (around the same price range - dual driver models) and find the UM2's to be both better in comfort, staying in place, and sound quality. The only downside in comparison is that the UM2's cord is not user replaceable. I'd have to send it in to Westone if anything happened. I haven't been extrememly easy on these, though, and they just don't fail. I'm not worried in the least and expect another trouble-free 5 years out of them easily.

Just my 2 cents.

I use Shure triple flange tips with them and cut the stem down so they fit snugly in my ear rather than sticking out. http://www.amazon.com/Shure-EA306-Triple-Flange-Sleeves/dp/B000F657DY

Just looked and apparently Westone doesn't advertise the UM2's anymore - only the UM2-RC. You can still find the original UM2's in online stores. Amazon has them.

My dad got me these cause he's into excessive things, but goddamn do they deliver. It's sort of a pain, actually, because the Macbook's headphone output is really noisy (major design flaw, IMO) and now I can hear every pop, hiss, and click.

Westone UM2 RC

I paid 220€ for them back in 2013. I had to replace the cable twice, but since it's removable that's no big deal. They are very comfortable (I can wear them for hours without feeling any pain) and they sound amazing.
