I know this is a shameless plug, but I would highly recommend reading my book as you are rewatching the early seasons. It specifically talks about what it was like to experience Survivor as it aired and what it was like on a week to week basis as we were introduced to the show for the first time, and how the world reacted to it. It would make an excellent companion piece for anyone who is going back and is reliving the franchise all over again.

There's another of its ilk, Mario Lanza's book. It is an amazing time capsule that takes me back to the good ol' days when everyone was talking about Survivor.

As for the Burnett books, they offer some really good insight to those early seasons and what production was thinking/worried about as they were going through filming. Worth a read for sure.

It's called When it was Worth Playing For. I haven't read the actual book but while he was writing it he put the drafts of the chapters relating to Borneo on his website, so I read those.
