Last year I was also looking for someone to sharpen my knives. I ended up buying a whetstone and learning how to do it myself. I'm sure it's not as good as a professional would do but they're way sharper than they used to be and definitely good enough for the cooking I do. I'd definitely recommend it! This is the one I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075YMWZD8

Can regular waterstones be used to shaprened stainless steel knives? I've read that newer stainless steels are too hard to be sharpened by anything except diamond coated/plated stones. Specifically, I'm looking at this combination stone https://www.amazon.com/Whetstone-Sharpener-Sharpening-Silicone-Included/dp/B075YMWZD8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1543246965&sr=8-6&keywords=whetstone
