Every one has given you good advice so far. Here's my 2 cents :)

1. Yes, Wilton Gel colors will give you your colors much more nicely.
   
   
2. bake each layer separately, as others said. You'd need probably two boxes of mix for this cake. If you want to get wild, buy 7 aluminum pie pans to bake your layers in.
   
   
3. Now you're going to need to level those layers. (after they cool!!!) Don't feel bad about "wasting" that cake you're cutting off because it's not doing you any favors. You might even want to chill them for an hour or so before you do this, they'll be delicate.
   
   
4. Now you need to ice that thing. Again, canned frosting isn't doing you any favors. It's too thin and goopey. You'll be intimidated by making your own until you do it and realize how much better it is and how EASY it is to make.
   
   Do yourself a favor and get one of these for your frosting needs. You'll thank yourself later.
