As my current Samsung tab is dying a slow death I'm quite tempted by that. Might even install Linux on it rather than Android (dual boots Win10)

Well, I'm going to surprise you with an answer that's going to end up being cheaper, and probably more robust than the Asus...

I would go with a China tablet clone, and the nice thing about this tablet is that it comes with dual-boot capability. You can boot into Android, or you can choose to boot into Windows 10.

Then, you can get Final Draft for Windows 10 and work on your script, or you can check out the Google Play store and see if any screenwriting apps work for you on the Android side.

If you have Amazon and live in the U.S., then the 10.1" tablet is only $179 and you can purchase a separate keyboard for $50 and even a stylus pen for $18.

I own one, and the quality it surprisingly good.

HERE is a link to the tablet. It also shows it with the optional keyboard and stylus.

The same company has smaller dual-boot tablets as well, but the processor is not as robust. They also have a bigger, 2K or 4K screen model.

If you want a recommendation on something else, let me know.

In all fairness, you don't need anything but pen and paper to write. When you're ready to start drawing, don't make a huge investment if you've never done it before. Good tools will not make up for lack of skill and/or experience. You also don't want to spend a lot on something that won't match your own workflow style.

That being said, if you're looking for a self contained tablet, your options are slim, but I just picked this up and it's super nice for the $200 price. It's a full blown laptop/android tablet hybrid.

Stylus is an extra $20 and it's pretty responsive. I haven't gotten the keyboard yet.

If you just need a drawing tablet for an existing computer, look into Wacom products.
