I have kind of a funny story.
A couple weeks ago I ordered this face mask off Amazon, but I got sent this $100+ electronic instead.
Quite the mix-up. Amazon gave me a refund and told me the converter is now mine with which to do what I want.
My dad said he might want to keep it for his old films. So, it's either going to be a free Christmas present for him or I'm going to sell it for a 100% profit.
This was the most random item I ever got because I didn't even order it.
Want cheap, fast, only 35mm or slides and don't want to go much bigger then 5x7?

Want bigger, better but slow as all hell?

Oh it was actual 35mm scan?
If so then same principal applies, The washed out edges will still be there along with scratches but I or anyone else would be able to easily lean it up. I would love to tackle this pic but spending lots of time cleaning it up only to look subpar is just not worth it.
Try this one has good reviews.

Thanks. I'll definitely look into the scanners you've mentioned.
As an aside, do you know if these things suck? Woverine 20MP
I may or may not have impulse bought one on Amazon before getting any responses. Once again, not always that bright.
Anyway, thanks for the information and examples. I really appreciate it. Wish I had waited 'til morning for a response.
Edit: Nevermind, been reading up some more and it looks like it does. I'll see if I can return it. Thanks again.
These have the same look as the crappy low resolution jpg lab scans I get where I live. The labs charge more for "high resolution".
Perhaps you might have better results digitizing your negatives with a P&S digital camera and some photoshop magic.
I use this cheapy special for B/W and it kicks the labs' ass. Wolverine scanner
Getting good color from it requires a bit of photoshop skill but is possible. The thing has its flaws but it's better than an over-contrasty low res lab scan.
So I'm going to Alaska this summer, and want to fit in a bunch of shooting. I've got a decent collection of Nikon MF and AF film gear, but I'm thinking of making the switch to digital for convenience's sake. Bodies include a Nikkormat EL and F-100. Lenses are 50mm f/1.4 AI (SUCH a good lens), 55mm Micro-Nikkor (non-AI), 45mm f/2.8 GN (can't remember if AI or not), a Tamron MF zoom with AI F-mount coupling, 60mm AF micro-Nikkor, 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-G Zoom-Nikkor, and I believe the 35-135 f/3.5-4.5 AF Zoom-Nikkor. Plus the kit G-lenses from my mother's old N65.
I'm thinking about making the switch to digital, but I'd like to keep as many of the lenses as possible. I know the non-AI one can't be helped, but is there a moderately-priced (say, sub-$650) Nikon DLSR out there that has the in-body AF motor and AI metering capability? Something with 10+ megapixels?
I still have a mess of film (including a bunch of Velvia 50 and Provia 100F) in the freezer, so sticking with film is a very viable option. Can anyone recommend a good scanner that won't break the bank? I was looking at the Wolverine 20MP scanner as a possible option.
