I remember a story from roman time (or at least really long ago, I'm not a history person) where a boat was built with half the workers using 11 inch/foot measurements and the other half using 12 inch/foot measurements. Needless to stay the boat didn't make it out of harbor. Then there's this.

Not quite. it's always wrong, so in theory, you would work that out pretty quickly. OP's calculator is only rarely wrong. That could cause some probs.
