X-Statix only ever had the one run, by Peter Milligan. Get the omnibus if you can, it contains all the relevant issues, or if you have Marvel Unlimited, start reading at X-Force #116 - that's where the team debuts, and they operate as X-Force for 12 issues until they're forced to change their name and that's when you switch to reading X-Statix.

Mulligan/Allred X-Force into the new title X-Statix is game-changing and I don't know why it isn't talked about more. I'd read it in singles but I lucked into the omnibus on a great (sub-$40) sale and it just blows me away whenever I crack it open.

It's a really phenomenal book, and not necessarily for the reasons one would think after this excerpt.

Adored by humans, reviled by their fellow mutants, X-Force does the dirty jobs that others can't, or won't. All they want in return is fame, money, sex, power and lucrative endorsement deals.

Its smartly written social satire. I don't want to spoil it but def pick up X-FORCE by Peter Milligan which then becomes X-STATIX.

Hey there. This was a hayday for the X-Men. Recommendations from that era.

New X-Men by Morrison and Quitely is probably the other huge, groundbreaking one to read (Joss really is riffing off of much of Morrison's ideas, and says so in interviews).


X-Statix by Milligan and Alred. This began as a re-envisioning of X-Force. This is a different flavour but was again a great series.


X-Force by Kyle and Crain. The next X-Force was really incredible and spawned a number of spinoffs. Dark and badass.

I'd second the Nextwave recommendation, and I'd also point you towards Milligan & Allred's X-Force and Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe.
