Cheaper? They both cost around $250.

PS4

Xbox

In fact, the PS4 is actually $5 cheaper than the Xbox One.

> So why buy a XBox if you can play the exact same games on the cheaper Playstation 4?

u/SadXbox · 7 pointsr/consoledeals

if you would be buying one of the games and the extra controller anyway, it's a good deal. otherwise, not that great as you can get a 500GB Xbox One S for $200. for example

u/onkel_axel · 6 pointsr/xboxone

$220 dollars?
You can get a new console around Black Friday / Cyber Monday or Christmas for $50 less

Right now there is also a deal on Amazon.com (sold and shipped by third party seller antonline)

Are you sure? Let's check then shall we? For fair comparison ignoring discounts because all the graphics cards seem to be on discount. A few notes, you don't need to buy the highest end models of these cards, nor do you need to buy an aftermarket card. I only searched for the RX 480, it is cheaper compared to the GTX 1060 but even a quick search for the GTX 1060 at least in the US shows certain models at around the same price of the Xbox One S: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=gtx+1060&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Agtx+1060

Xbox One S: 239.78

RX 480 Ref. 8GB : 209.99

RX 480 8GB Sapphire : 234.99 - This is an aftermarket card so you are already paying a premium and you don't need this to reach that level of performance, actually, it's very possible DF is using reference cards. Oh, wait, this are 8GB models and there are 4GB cards, that although might perform slightly worse in memory bandwidth restricted scenarios it won't be a real issue in many games and will reach performance levels within margin of error in comparison with 8GB.

RX 480 4GB Sapphire : 209.99, aftermarket card

RX 480 4GB Asus : 214.98, aftermarket card

Now, this is UK. Let's go to the US, don't even need to bother showing the 4GB models.

Xbox One S : 258.00 - cheapest New

RX 480 8GB Sapphire : 249.99 - aftermarket card

RX 480 8GB Sapphire : 259.99 - aftermarket card with a better overclock than above

Get this bundle. You'll get the whole band kit plus a free guitar so you're saving about $70 right off the bat and you'll also be getting the base game plus the Rivals expansion which includes online multiplayer later in the year.

If, and I really mean IF you are serous on probably not buying anymore games then you won't need a lot of storage space so I recommend this Xbox One S bundle. It's the cheapest price for the console and you could sell the copy of Battlefield 1 and use it towards money for more songs to buy.

Well the Xbox one is going for 300$ (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01L1Y0TCC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491250220&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=xbox+one&dpPl=1&dpID=51fLf4t7QoL&ref=plSrch#nav-search-keywords)

and it can run Battlefield 1 around 60FPS at 900p on around Medium settings, you got ripped off even harder since that machine isn't running BF1 at those settings anywhere above 35FPS.

So you paid almost double the amount for around half the performance.

Cancel it now. Get a good PC. Even an Xbox for that matter. Anything is better.

The 500gb white BF1 bundle is $212 also

u/FULL_METAL_HOODIE · 2 pointsr/hometheater

You're welcome. And FWIW, a refurb Denon AVR-X1300W for $320 would be a solid receiver upgrade with better room correction and all of the 4k HDCP 2.2 and HDR compatibility you need. A 500 GB Xbox One S with Battlefield 1 (currently on sale) for $250 could serve as a standalone 4k HDR blu ray player and streaming device if you don't want to use the built in apps.

Just some upgrade options to consider down the road. It wouldn't cost $1000's. Until then, enjoy the new tv. I'm super jealous of the OLED.

So I went into this, and read the article, thinking "hey, but PC has a truly massive Indie scene. Surely, the reason PC is so much higher than the other three combined is because it had so many more games reviewed, right?"

Nope, on PS4/XBone/WiiU there were 783 games reviewed, 20 of which were classified as "good exclusives" with a score of 75 or higher. PC had 450 games reviewed and had 46 games classified as "good exclusives."

If we're rounding, just 3% of games released on console this year became "good exclusives" and 10% of games on PC became good exclusives. I'd say this is another feather in our cap, brothers.

When someone says "PC has no good exclusives" we can say definitively, with evidence, that ~10% of PC games reviewed are considered "good exclusives" whereas just 3% of Console games reviewed (and for this to be relevant you'd have to own all 3 consoles) are considered "good exclusives."

To tack onto what I said earlier, for this comparison, where PC absolutely smashes consoles, you'd have to own all three consoles, PS4, XBone, and WiiU concurrently to be able to take advantage of those 20 games that are "good exclusives." PS4 Slim + Xbox One + Wii U = $800 spent. For $800 you could get a pretty bitchin' computer that would outperform the consoles easily, and you might be able to get a VR capable PC with Oculus' new min spec being the 1050 Ti/960 and an i3.

"PC gaming is dead" I say PC gaming is stronger than ever, and this just proves it. Unless we're in some kind of bubble that no one in the industry is seeing, it's not going anywhere any time soon.

Is it possible to build a PC better than the $280 Xbox One S for the same price?

u/midfield99 · 1 pointr/Flipping

What's a reasonable price range for an XBox One S/BF1 bundle? It's a sealed box, so I don't want too big of a cut, but I'd prefer not to deal with ebay or amazon. I'm curious what's the upper limit I could sell it for if I was ok waiting a little bit. I think I could quickly dump it for $210 or $220, but that seems kind of low.

u/Heinskitz_Velvet · 1 pointr/halo

Where did you get $460 from?

You can go on Amazon right now and get a 500gig BF1 XB1 bundle for $250, and Halo 5 is $18.

If you search on Craigslist or your local shops you can get it for even cheaper.

u/K5cents · 1 pointr/halo

The Xbox One S is shockingly cheap. I picked one up for $250 with BF1 included. The 500 GB One S is going for $261 on Amazon right now, BF1 (which I also think is a pretty fun game for a while) included. It's a sexy little machine; the One S is the Xbox we should have got at launch. Even the lack of power brick adapter is a much welcomed feature lol. I get endless hours of enjoyment from Halo 5. Don't let the haters taint your judgement, this game is amazing, the arena multiplayer is perfectly tuned IMO. The campaigns of the previous games are a blast to play, as anybody will tell you.

u/spvcedghost · 1 pointr/nintendo

We shouldn't be inconvenienced because nintendo wants to cut corners and be cheap. If they want to charge a premium price they should include things that have become standard for its competitors. Even the dock should have an ethernet port as most other a/v docks of comparable price contain. Its not launching next to anything so using its launch price is irrelevant but comparing it to its closest competitor that had a lot of these basic features barring the memory issue. And its also cheaper than a new xbox or PS4 today. This NEW Xbox One comes with a mic, Xbox Live, and a game for about $10 less than the lowest price ive seen for a Switch. Just because you dont have a problem with these glaring issues in the switch doesnt mean that they are less important. What are people supposed to do with Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Remastered without online multiplayer connections? These games are almost entirely based around the premise of multiplayer and then being forced to pay for their unproven and doubtful internet "improvements" is something you have to take into account as a waste. Sony said the same that they wanted to improve their online with the introduction of their mandatory paid service but we see how far that's gotten themnot very far at all since we still see rather large amounts of down time over the system's current life compared to xbox live. My main issue is that they seem to be overcharging for a product that lacks features and that there are significant things that could have been included to rightfully justify the $300 tag they want to sell this with but instead they want to inconvenience us with the burden of having to purchase peripherals in order for the average consumer to enjoy this console. But, by the way you cherry pick certain lines of text to answer its easy to see you dont actually care if people had issues with "hidden costs," that this post was just some vain attempt to get brownie points with the rest of the fanboys and that you already planned to purchase the new nintendo console day one even before the codename of NX was revealed.

New, used, refurbished? Amazon has a SKU for $200, but it's technically being sold through them by a third party: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L1Y0TCC

u/thedeaux · 1 pointr/LAlist

The reason nobody is biting on either of your posts is because a [new Xbox One S bundle sells for $249] (https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-500GB-Console-Battlefield-Bundle/dp/B01L1Y0TCC/ref=sr_tnr_p_3_6469295011_1_twi_gam_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1483652399&sr=1-3&keywords=xbox%2Bone%2Bs). Doesn't make sense to pay $300 for a used first gen Xbox One (non S) with a couple old games. You're probably going to have to settle for $150 or $200 unfortunately. Probably better of holding onto it.

u/Inferis84 · 1 pointr/Games

PS4 500GB slim bundled with CoD - $299

Xbox OneS bundled with Battlefield 1 - $266 (regular $299)

So both competing consoles are the same price or cheaper, and also come bundled with a game worth $60.

u/HeartBeat328 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The number one reason, at least in my opinion is 60 FPS... Even my shitty laptop (you can check my flair) is able to do 60fps, granted everything on low and at lower resolutions, and generally indie games only for games released in 2016. Personally I would sacrifice resolution any day to get 60fps, but that may be a niche, at least so my friend believes.

You save a lot of money (in the long run). Lets say you buy a console. Its 300$ (ignoring the current discount) and includes a controller and 1 game. Lets say you want another game with that. Add 60$. If you want your buddy to come over and play and he doesn't have his own controller, thats another 60$, again ignoring the current discount. And now you want to play online and you want to do so for an entire year. Pay up mate, another 60$. Congratulations your xbox has now effectively cost you 480$.
What could you do for a pc of that price? This is one I quickly threw together in pcpartpicker. I am no expert in computer building, and I'm positive someone else can come up with something better or something that costs less, and sure its not gonna be some sort of god pc, but nontheless will outperform consoles and then some. Total of ~520$. For 40$ more you get:

  1. Backwards compatibility
  2. 60FPS
  3. Higher resolution than console
  4. Ability to emulate if you choose to do so
  5. Free online play
  6. Various abilities console doesn't give you: coding, rendering, a convinient way to google answers to your homework, etc.

This Build should last you 2-3 years, but you could do better ofcourse. If you were to pay a but more you could build a pc that should easily outlast a console generation, again others will probably be able to provide better value for your money than I could. But let's not kid ourselves. The price barrier to entry is higher on a PC. Yes you will be paying more initially, but over the years you will definitely save money, especially concerning online. My uncle plays on console exclusively, thats where his friends play, but he has paid a total of 600$ for xbox live alone. Probably more even, given the regional pricing we have here. You will also inevitably save a lot of money on buying your games if you make use of storefronts like steam and GOG. The average price I've paid for tripple a games is probably around 30$. Half the price you would normally pay for on console.

With the PC you aren't constrained to what Sony or Microsoft says you can or cannot have. Sony's stance on EA access comes to mind. Who are they to say whats a good value for you? If I say EA access is 20$ a month worth to me, then its 20$ worth to me, it might only be worth 5$ a month to you, but thats irrelavent, it's always about what its worth to you.

Another good reason for getting a PC is that it is your own. You build it the way you like it. If you want a Titan Pascal in there, you can do that. You can game at true 4k if you want to invest the money.

With pc you aren't constrained by your input device, or output device either. If you want to game on a Television you can go ahead and do so, you can even game on the couch with tools such as the lapdog, though such devices can be pricey. You aren't limited to a monitor, as some people seem to believe.

You can also use the input device of choice. I've heard retards blither about how keyboards can give you "dyslexia" or that they cause cramps. Sure it may not be for everyone, but you can plug in a controller and play. Heck, steam even lets you customise the layout for the controller, a feature missing on consoles where they are limited to using controllers.

If listwars are important to you then PC is a no-brainer. The pc has by far the largest selection of games out there. Sure theres a lot of shovel-ware that comes through, but there are also a lot of high quality PC only releases that exist, if exclusive games means that much to you. Here is a list of some pc exclusive games.

If co-op games are your thing, then pc is really the place to be. According to co-optimus; PC has 973 co-op games, Xbox1 has 222 and PS4 has 244. Obviously this doesn't say much of their quality, but chances are that with a larger selection you'll be more likely to find good quality games.

Lastly, if you do not like windows why not try linux? Sure it can be a headache to get into if you know absolutely nothing, but nothing is stopping you from learning. I jumped in headfirst with this one and started with arch linux. It gave me headaches to figure it out, but now its my daily driver on my laptop.

This is just some of the reasons I've managed to come up with, and I'm sure there are plenty more reasons as to why you would want a PC over a console.

TL;DR in no particular order, except for FPS:

  7. 60FPS
  8. Higher Resolution
  9. Backwards compatibility
  10. Emulation
  11. Whatever input device you want
  12. Free online play
  13. Workstation use
  14. More games
