DIY Licorice Mask
So, Shark Sauce seemed to break me out, which made me real sad... especially as I was hoping to up my licorice root game. Enter DIY. I ordered a bunch of those compressed sheet masks off Amazon, along with licorice root tea and alcohol-free licorice root extract. I boiled and steeped the tea, then refrigerated it. After cleansing and toning, I put some of the tea in a dish, added a few drops of tea tree oil, and let the mask do its thang. While it absorbed, I smoothed four drops of the licorice root extract onto my skin. I put the sheet mask on, silicone cover over that, and chilled for a half hour. My skin has seemed more even, and of course, more hydrated. I plan on doing this at least 3x/week, and consider it to be an essence step. I'm so excited to see if it helps ease my redness in the long run!
Kind of the wrong subreddit to post this, would be better suited for /r/asianbeauty or /r/koreanbeauty.
I use the Hada Labo Hyaluronic Lotion (or any moisturizing toner) with peelable cotton puffs or a compressed facial sheet.
Problem with giving skincare to a skin care freak is they tend to picky. People give me skin care knowing I am dry and obsessed. Can be hit or miss.
What about makeup?? Peripera Lumi Lip tints are last and are not to drying. Etude jelly lips are sort of fun to try. I love Clio waterproof eye brush liner or sharp and simple pen liner. Etude has some cute makeup (not the bb creams).
If she has bangs or hair in her face I like these velcro bang fringe things to get my hair out of my face when masking. . They aren't as cute as the cat ear head band,. Nice when you are just washing your face..

DIY masks sheets are fun.

Wash off masks are least fun to try and fairly safe as they don't stay on that long. . Skinfood has some (strawbery and black sugar). Daitoki rice one is similar. Mizon Peeling Gel. Innisfree Jeju Clay Mask (orginal) are probably safe for most skin types.
Sulwhasoo Travel kits are fun. They are a luxury brand. Fun to try. But if she has allergies to scent it is out.
I will repost what I posted in another thread not too long ago, making edits for what’s relevant to my current routine experiences:
I sheet mask most nights. I have a drawer of backups in addition to the sheet masks I have ready to go on my skincare bar cart.
These are my favourites so far:
Dr. Jart Hydration Lover Rubber Mask // product here
Update Feb 20, 2018: I tried another Dr. Jart Mask two nights ago, the V7 Toning Mask and it is another winner that I will be repurchasing. It had a creamier essence that left my face so moisturised that I considered ending my routine there. And there is so much essence. I had enough for three additional applications after sealing in a ziplock bag. I find that I generally am wowed by all Dr. Jart masks, but they are pricey.

SNP Bird’s Nest Aqua Ampoule Sheet Mask // Product here
This is a favourite of this sub, and I can see why. It has so much essence, and although it is fragranced, I like the scent. It smells like a clean hand soap. This left my face plump and hydrated. I purchased it for $2.80 at a local AB store, and I think I will go back to repurchase the box.
Whamisa Organic Seeds & Rice Fermented Hydrogel Facial Mask // Product Here
First tested on Dec. 19. First impressions: very thin clear nude hydrogel mask. Very delicate. Smells very much like Chanel No. 5, with strong notes of jasmine and musk. As mask wears on the face, the scent remains and the mask starts to create a menthol-type cooling sensation on the face. The mask fits poorly in the eyes, but otherwise fits well. Will repurchase for scent and gel texture. This mask is definitely a favourite of mine for the senatorial experience versus the results, as I definitely felt bougie AF wearing it. I will monitor it closely as I Iuse it more in the future to see if it has any more benefits other than basic hydration.
Regen Absolute Gold Foil Mask // Product here
Out of all the foil masks I’ve tried and own, this one is my favourite. It fits surprisingly well for a foil mask, and is lined with a charcoal infused paper sheet mask. I got it for $12 for a box of 5 which seems to be really affordable for these foil type of masks, but it has since gone up in price on Amazon, I’m assuming due to it being a fairly nice mask. This one is great for skintertainment purposes (perfect sheet mask selfie!) but I also feel like due to the fit and lining that it is a generally good mask as well.

Edit: typos
I think most sheet masks are gimmicky because alot of them contain a large amount of alcohol and fillers such as acrylic acid and fragrance( I'm not completely against fragrance and fillers but it shouldn't be in higher quantities then the beneficial skincare ingredients) , I typically make my own by buying plain sheet masks in bulk for example these : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00YD8IGIS/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvp_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519502403&sr=2
Then putting them into a Ziploc bag with a large amount of a low viscoity product like the Hada labo lotion or scinic ampoules. Then I just leave them in the fridge for whenever I want to use it. Typically to make a batch of 100 costs 35 dollars which makes it 35 cents per use
I often make oat milk with fermented oat extract and oat beta glucans then soak it in compressed sheet mask.
