Some kind of wireless charging pad?

Odd that it would be in a van, though, as you'd think the phone would just keep falling off.

This one is $11 and has 4,700 mostly positive reviews on Amazon. Listed as a best seller

The part he plugged into the CFX is something like this.

Then you have to get a charging pad, sorta like this.

This is actually pretty awesome on the CFX because the micro USB is one of two charging options, so it doesn't entirely make the device wireless charging only.

I was looking to buy one for my brother who just got a new S6. Usually I stick with OEM products, but these third party ones received very good reviews. Any recommendations?

Yootech: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NWMI07S/

Techmatte: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F1SHFJA/

ninja edit: I'll also add that he uses a slim case and to be honest I'd rather use a non-fast charging cable if that means the phone won't get as hot.

u/GreyWalker · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS6

I got the $13 one a month or so ago. No problems so far, it does what it is supposed to do. I like that it lights up to let you know if the position is correct or not.

Hmm I hope these are alright. I had actually been considering the Yootech before I jumped on this. At least returning it won't be an issue if I need. Thanks for the tip tho.

Edit: BTW are you talking about this one:Link or this one: LINK

I have the Samsung wireless charger as well as this much cheaper one. The cheap one is much more reliable than the Samsung which seems really picky about placement (and will work for a little while then just stop).

I don't know about charging speed, but they both charge relatively quickly. I'm more of a keep-it-full than a rapid charge from 5% kinda guy.

As for screen protectors, they're not necessary for everyone. I haven't used a screen protector in years. My Galaxy S4 screen is still flawless after years of use and my Note 5 is flawless after ~4 months. Don't drop it, keep it out of your keys pocket, and don't throw it in a bag with sand - you will be flawless forever.

IMO if you drop frequently you're better off buying a case made to handle it than wasting money on a screen protector. Just because a tempered glass screen protector breaks doesn't mean it saved your phone - it broke because it's tempered glass not gorilla glass. Your phone's glass is much stronger than the cheap little protector.

That was probably me, and yeah, it works. However, some brands work and some don't. I don't know if it's because some need to recognize the NFC tag of a phone first, but just know they don't all work. I can only recommend the exact items that work, just to save anyone from disappointment.

e.g. this Yootech charger works: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NWMI07S

It's not the best looking one for display though, so I'm looking for a slightly smaller, rounder one, but I bought some round ones that ended up not lighting up the figures. Still looking.

Spigen also makes great cases, although I'm unsure as to their more heavy duty ones interfering with wireless charging. From what I understand, the Samsung wireless charges are spotty, but there is an offbrand one that is supposed to be more reliable

If you need another charger you get get this,

It's 15$ and works perfectly as a back up

I have an S6 and never had the S5 so I don't know how long it would take to charge an S5 wirelessly. The S5 has a bigger battery so I'm assuming it will take longer than mine. I haven't really timed my charger, but I would estimate that it would take 1.5-2 hours to charge to full. I use it at night, so it's not really an issue. It'll probably charge your phone at the same rate as if you were to use a 1A usb charger.

This is the kind that you would want to get: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EP-PG920IBUGUS-Wireless-Charging-Charger/dp/B00UCZGS6S/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451801626&sr=1-4&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger

This one is newer and will charge the Note 5 and S6 edge+ faster, but it does work for every Qi enabled phone at the regular rate: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fast-Charge-Wireless-Charging/dp/B012AWBN9C/ref=sr_1_7?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451801626&sr=1-7&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger

The wireless charger is really used for the convenience and not the speed. I had this charger before I got the Samsung one. The Samsung one is a lot better in my opinion because it has a light that tells you the state of the charge (full/charging). The Samsung one also has a larger charging area so you don't have to set it down exactly perfect for it to charge. The other one has a smaller charging surface so you have to set it exactly in the middle or it won't charge.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay? I've always bought the yootech ones, and my latest batch were a different physical size. They're $10.95, but I'm trying to figure out if that's on the "burn your house down cheap" end of the spectrum. Obviously Samsung's $30 unit is the other end of the scale, but where do the $11 ones fit?

edit: I just saw that the one OP has is now branded as "yootech". Sigh.... yep [runs to unplug them]

I have this one, not the cheapest and not the most expensive and works great for charging. Only problem I have is the charging LED is crazy bright so I put a piece of tape over it so at night when I'm charging my phone it doesn't act like a night light lol. Does NOT come with a wallplug, just a cable.

The sweet spot is slightly offset for the phone but again, it works great.

u/almostdickless · 1 pointr/Android

I used this adapter with this pad for at my desk and this pad for at my bed-side. The adapter comes with adhesive that you pull a piece of plastic off of and it sticks to your battery but I didn't pull that off as I like to swap batteries. I've had no problems with it staying in place without using the adhesive.

Make sure you are using at least 2 amp plug adapters as the size of the field and the amount of current the field can push are greatly reduced with smaller output wall plugs.

u/ricktroxell · 1 pointr/nexus6

haven't tried that one. I bought this on a friends recommendation.

On a side note, whats the real difference between this and the 3 coil version aside from the extra coil. If I can solve this charging problem I will keep this phone for another year. I love it.

u/felixgolden · 1 pointr/lgg4

I'm using this one. The Yootech that looks like a guitar pick.

u/jenntasticxx · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

I'm not sure about how the software works for batteries. But wireless chargers are less than $10 on Amazon so if you want to try it's not super expensive!

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NWMI07S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ejsKyb4QDW868

I'm gonna try out this method, but I don't like those X holders. I think I'm gonna try this spring loaded one from RAM Mounts. Grabs it on all 4 sides, and seems to have enough space underneath to glue in the Qi Charger.

This holder, plus this pivot which will mount into my dash, this Qi charger, and this wiring.

Overall, much cheaper (and grips the phone better) than the solution I was going to use.

Edit: I think I'll use the ram mount wiring instead, it comes with an inline fuse.

The Priv has a massive battery. Anker makes some great quick chargers that really make a difference. I'd recommend one at work and maybe a portable quick charger if your messenger bag/purse/backpack/whatever you carry. The Priv also supports wireless charging, so if you want a wireless charger on your desk that's an option, just make sure you put a hefty charger behind the wireless pad. I use a dock instead of wireless. Seems more functional to me.

As a side note, I kitted my portable charger out with 2x USB-micro B cables, a Lightning cable, and a micro-B to C adapter. Got sick of iPhone people always being dead and me saying I've got power if you've got a wire. Got the C adapter just to be inclusive. Haven't needed it yet.
