I have this one and I'm very happy with it. The magnet for automatically turning on/off the screen is a nice touch too.

I think it should be alright as long as you don't get something too bulky.
I have this one and it's quite slim. I just tested it with my Galaxy Nexus (which is also inside a TPU skin) and it worked fine. Beam registered no problem.
I have one that looks exactly like this except it's a "Blurex Ultra-Slim Case"
Either way I love it.

I got the BluRex case for mine and I love it. Looks classy with the leather, isn't bulky, works well whether you lay it flat or use the case as a stand, doesn't block any of the ports, is still holding up well even after well over a year of using the case, cheap price, and protected my tablet from damage the one time I dropped it on asphalt.
