Here's what you need to do kid:

  1. Don't panic. one of my most successful friends is a high school drop out. He's got a house, is first chef at a large hotel, and a wife. Im still working on my graduate degree, won't even have a real job till next year, and i didn't waste much time.

  2. Get your GED. Study for the test. Don't waste any time. No employers will take you seriously until you pass. Good thing it isn't hard if you study. As to studying, we learn through pain. Get a good outline and copy it word for word in hand several times. Handwriting is suffering suffering is learning. Also if they offer a question bank take practice exams until you beat passing by 10 points consistently.

  3. Figure out what kind if work you flourish at. Don't look for the career, look for types of work. Some people need to be on their feet and love high stress jobs. Some people like sitting at a desk and filliing out paperwork all day. Some people live for sales. Figure it out. Figure out what kind of lifestyle you want.

  4. Once you know what kind of life you want, pick a career path that matches. You like being on your feet? Be a chef. You like sales? Apply to every car lot, cruise ship booking company, and political fundraiser in town.

  5. Take some time to learn to control your mind. I was also diagnosed as bi polar. Spent my teen years on medication in and out of the psych ward. Told i was chronic, that i would struggle with the disease until the day id die and id need to be on meds until that distant day. I learned to focus. There were a number of steps, but most important was learning to focus through meditation (i suggest starting with bead mantra meditation, it's basic training wheels), understanding what i could know and what was beyond my human capacity (studied the continental skeptics and then the existentialists), and learned how programable and maliable the mind can be (https://www.amazon.com/Your-Brain-God-Timothy-Leary/dp/1579510523). i took myself off my pills and began this transformation was 10 years ago. I'm about to finish my second graduate degree from a world class university in taxation, have stable interpersonal relationships, and am happy in life. The most important step is understanding your brain and acquiring intellectual technologies to control your own mind.
