These fucking things. Buy them. They are fucking awesome. I have them stashed all over the place.
Well first off build yourself a top of the line pc with the new i7-7700k and GTX 1080 (or if money really isn't an issue get a GTX Titan XP and upgrade it to the 1080 Ti when it comes out lol).
Then make sure you have enough room. I only have 1.7 x 2.2m and it works great, but you can get up to 3x3m and over if you have the space.
The cord isn't too bad in most games, you will learn to just step over it. Certain games like Holopoint and Racket NX will have you spinning and getting tangled, but you can download a program called Advanced OpenVR Settings that will tell you how many spins you made in a certain direction so you can spin the other way ingame.
You will have a lot of add-ons to buy in a few months - Wireless (TPCast) , Hi5 Gloves , deluxe audio strap for added comfort , VR15 Rifle Accessory
And I 100% suggest that you buy a few of these sleep masks, cut out the middle, and use them as faceplate cushions instead of the default one, they are way more comfortable.
And get a box of these to wipe your lenses :P

I use lens cleaning wipes from Zeiss. /u/cybereality confirmed that at Oculus they also have lens wipes on hand for cleaning their Rifts. The ones I have have alcohol in them and /u/cybereality confirmed that theirs also have alcohol. (Source)

I use the microfiber cloth regularly to clean my lenses. Occasionally I use https://www.amazon.com/Zeiss-Pre-Moistened-Cleaning-5-Inches-400-Count/dp/B0030HG054 to wipe off any oils that get on the lenses. No issues in ~7 months of use.
That's for any ammonia-based or high-percentage isopropyl alcohol-based solutions, the single-use lens cleaner wipes are fine.

/u/peanuttown Is on the right track with his recommendations, but I'll throw out an alternate. I use Zeiss lens wipes to clean my camera lenses after weddings, and PC/phone screens. They're microfiber soft and I have numerous wedding photographer friends who've used them for years. In the 3 years I've used them I've never had a scratch, and I don't think they'll scratch any consumer products, but obviously you should do whatever makes the most sense for you.

Not sure about those wipes, but i was told to not use (liquid) cleaners – i think that there's maybe a kind of antistatic layer on it that would be damaged (like on crt-monitors)...

I used the wipes MBoffin suggested. I had some lying around, I do camera work. I didn't think about it because they were moistened but it worked great.
