What is the marking on where the gamecube is plugged into the converter? The pics are too blurry to read.
edit/ is this your converter box?
If so, I don't think it will work as you have set it up. You need an RF modulator. You could also use a VCR or dvd player in the same way you tried to use the converter box you have.
With the exception of a few low-power stations, not really, unless the SD TV has a digital tuner, which is unlikely. You'd want something like this.

To me, it's a bit of a waste though. Save up and get a small HDTV with a tuner built-in. Slickdeals has some great options if you're patient.
Thanks for the great info.
I found your indoor antenna. I think it would work for me. I'm on Calvert, in Charles Village - I hope I'm okay on channels.
Do you need something like this? Or...how does it work?
I'm currently only giving Comcast $47 a month for 20mbps and torrent as well. I'm still new to Baltimore and want to get local channels so I know what's happening around here.

Do you mean this? This is the converter that I bought
In January I moved in to a new apartment and inherited an old TV, but also didn't want to pay for cable. Depending on the TV you have, you may also need a converter box. I bought this converter box and this antenna. I skimped a little on the antenna since the converter box cost so much, so if you don't need one, I would recommend spending a little more on a better one. It works decently, but I live in a city and the signal often cuts out when buses go by on the street or planes/helicopters pass overhead.
So, something like this, with any antenna, correct?
It probably depends upon the date of the manufacture of the television. If it's a tube TV, it may not have the necessary components. You may need something like this to convert the signal for viewing.
Edit: You'll need to plug the antenna coax into the box I linked, and then run the box coax to your tv for viewing. Sorry if that was initially unclear.
if you have a spare PC laying around you could get an HD TV Tuner card and use mythtv or Windows Media Center to watch and record TV.
