No, water is definitely not ideal haha. You could get a color switch which would clean the shadow off the brush for you, or if you're feeling lazy like I was for the last several years of my life you could just get a clean paper towel and swirl the brush on that to clean it off, haha.

There's also daily brush cleaner that you could spritz on the brush and swirl off on a paper towel to dry in between shadows.

Try checking online to see if ELF or BH Cosmetics has a 5-10 piece brush set for you. Do you already have any tutorials that you've been watching to guide you through some techniques? :)

I have this thing which is really helpful with brushes I use to apply powder products, just a quick swipe between uses and they're good.
