I bought this one. Inexpensive ($14) and very well made! I got lots of compliments on it.

YESSSSS HATS! Bring back hats! I love summer hats and winter hats. Fuck I love hats. They keep you so cool and protect you so much, and they’re cute as heck.

For summer, I wear a paper straw hat I got on Amazon with as adjustable chin strap. I wish more hats had these tbh, here in Chicago one strong breeze will blow your hat right off. I also have a collection of varying summery floppy hats from TJMaxx.

I love both pieces and they’re phenomenally well made! You can buy the veil here and the belt here

I recently got a cheap Clubmaster dupe on Amazon. I usually wear prescription sunglasses, but wanted a pair for those rare occasions I wear contacts. Overall, I really like them! I can't wear aviators without looking like a serial killer, but these help me achieve that cool, old-school look I want.

They smell REALLY strongly of plastic first of out the package, but it fades. They also stay up quite nicely despite me having a low nose bridge.

Edit: Pic of how they look on me if anyone is curious. Sorry for the weird angle/pout. It was a selfie I was sending to my SO.

u/minimaru · 10 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

FYI these sunglasses are also available on Amazon rebranded as "Merry's" sunglasses. About $3 bucks more, but you have the option to return for free if you dont like them + faster shipping. Great reviews on Amazon

u/hawkguys · 10 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

This isn't bad by any means, but they are currently on Amazon for $126. I imagine that $118 is actually a pretty reasonable price on other websites as well.

coverage is honestly the best thing you could do for your skin. this style suit with a wide brim hat are the best ways to protect yourself from sun damage.

fyi: i absolutely love the sun. i used to sit out at the beach all day with only coconut oil for spf and would never burn. since incorporating actives and heavy-hitting sun protection, i’ve noticed a transformation in my skin. no new freckles, lines or sun spots. dewey complexion. while i occasionally miss my formerly bronzed skin, i do not miss the rough texture, wrinkles, or itchy-tight feeling i used to get after baking.

I've got this one which is a knock off of the "BRYK" wallet (which so happens to be cheaper than the knock off right now) and I like it, though if you carry cash it is less than ideal, only can fit a couple bills in it before it doesn't close.

u/MCHammerCurls · 5 pointsr/xxfitness

It's this hat from Amazon, and if the ears stood up a little more it would be perfect.

I can only slip a $20 or so in it cash-wise, but I rarely use cash so that's fine for me. It's so easy to find cards in and stays closed really well.

u/redreplicant · 5 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

IMHO waist alterations for jean-like pants are basically the worst. Especially if you're already having tension issues. I'd say call it a loss. On the other hand... my trick with slightly gappy waist pants is to use an elastic tuxedo belt if I'm not tucking in. It just keeps the waist from going anywhere and doesn't give me a muffin top or intestinal cramps.

u/emmy__lou · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have this one and LOVE it. I took out the string- you don’t need it for it to stay on your head. Seriously such a good value.

East Coast Mid Atlantic region perspective

The first thing that comes to mind is flip flops. You could probably also find a slide sandal that's quite casual. Gladiators, leatherish, and most statement shoes wouldn't fit in as well where I'm from. It's not my thing, but sockless vans, keds, converse, etc are also fair game. Sanuks, Rainbows, Reefs, etc. have had their peaks and valleys for trendiness, but remain popular across age groups.

IME in a beach town, a lot of the look comes not from buying beach clothes, but from re-purposing clothing for the beach lifestyle. Old sweat pants and jeans become cut-offs. Brothers' outgrown sweatshirts get the necks cut off and a button down with a stain that won't come out is now a cover up. Of course, there are resort and surf brands that also contribute to the dominant fashions where I'm from. And non beach-influenced fashion lines that are popular tend to be more casual or familiar.

Locals wear a lot of tunics and dresses that can be worn at a casual bar/restaurant and the beach alike. But that's really closely tied to my particular beach culture, where you head off on your bike in the morning and you end up going from house to house and you never know if you'll be taking a real shower or where the day will bring you.

Visors are more popular than most would imagine, especially baseball cap styles and straw styles, but not the plastic-y kind. Sun hats borrow a good deal of inspiration from lifeguards, boaters, and fishers, and general beach goers, but I can't remember the last time I've seen an actual large floppy hat. [This] (https://www.amazon.com/Lanzom-Womens-Bowknot-Straw-Foldable/dp/B06XXXQXLN/ref=sr_1_14?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1523827177&sr=1-14&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=floppy+hat) would be a bit much where I'm from.

Swimwear is typically more surf-shop and less pool-side looking. In the 25+ crowd I see more classic one pieces and fewer monokinis. Two pieces tend to range from revealing to more full coverage, but included a lot of surf and floral prints, solid colors, classic patterns (dots and stripes). It's pretty common to have mismatched yet coordinated tops and bottoms. Bottoms are more likely to be solid than tops, since they may have to match both the top of the suit and a rash guard.

A good pair of white jeans or other simple, opaque, white pants screams beachy to me. And fits in with a Miami or New England look depended on how you dress it up or down.

And the most important feature of the beachwear I'm most familiar with is that you keep it for years. Sometimes decades. Not the most fashion forward, but it's also the norm. I think there is something about living in an area where the population and lifestyles fluctuate so much on the off and on seasons that it effects the way you experience seasons and the passing of time. I can't put my finger on it, but I think it has something to do with how off-trend we can seem from the outside.

I was a big fan of Hawaiian print short sleeve button downs when I was a kid and they had a resurgence, and there are one or two I still wear, but I think Hawaiian print had more staying power on a bathing suit or dress. The drawback there is that dresses and bathing suits may be more expensive, and if you DO change your mind about them, you may not get as many wears out of them. Hibiscus prints are a little more common and less trendy, perhaps because they actually grow up and down the east coast.

Day Time: Top picks, buy a pair of Smith or Costa Polarized glasses, preferably with glass lenses, otherwise any ole pair of polarized will work

u/Crookshanksmum · 3 pointsr/deaf

I always use two layers. One thin layer like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Metog-Winter-Outdoor-Sports-Fleece/dp/B015T4WMUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453672958&sr=8-1&keywords=gloves

Then another layer of thick gloves. This has served me well during skiing, camping in the snow, and cold South Dakota winters.

I've seen some use these:

Flip the mittens back when you need to sign, then flip them back on when you need to be warm.

I love League of Legends!

You have a pet, right? And he's this cute little frog thing with giant eyes and a big happy mouth. He's hungry and you have some candy, but you accidentally slipped and fell and got it tangled around a bunch of ropes and obstacles. So you need to get the candy back to his mouth because if you don't, he'll make this face: :C and it's really sad. When you get close, he opens his mouth and goes "BLAH" in excited anticipation. When you finally get the candy into his mouth, he makes this face: C: and he loves you forever happily ever after the end.

Edit: Oh yeah wishlist stuff. This kitty hat is pretty cute. Or I have a wishlist for items under $5 if you wanna surprise me. Thanks for the contest!

u/Jimjongjung · 3 pointsr/aspergers

I know its frustrating but he's probably never going to get the wired differently thing. I know it sucks. What a lot of people find with being outside is its the light more than the heat. They find sunglasses really help. Also there stuff like this you can try
http://www.amazon.com/JellyBeadZ-Cooling-Scarf-Bandana-Black/dp/B004XX4X9E

Or similar products they might help. Or a personal fan maybe. I find for me if true sun isn't shining right on me I'm fine. So a parasol maybe? Dunno. Good luck.

u/GTLfistpump · 3 pointsr/electricdaisycarnival

I got these on amazon and they're the best cheap sunglasses I've ever had. Comes with a good stiff case as well.

u/KestrelLowing · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I finally decided it doesn't matter and that function is just necessary. In many ways, deciding that made me feel so much more comfortable and confident! And I realized that I just had a really weird thing about sunglasses.

Granted, maybe I just happened upon some that fit my face, but the great thing is I just have like 6 pairs of these because they're cheap and work.

u/Truant_Muse · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

It's nothing fancy, but I got this one last summer and quite like it. Here are a couple of pictures of me wearing it: pic1, pic2

Selling a pair of Ray Ban Clubmasters bought about 6 months ago via Amazon.

I think a belt would also work. They make stretchy belts, too, that are more comfortable than normal ones. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Stretch-Belt-Non-Slip-Belt-Loops/dp/B010NW06F8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1524783366&sr=8-10&keywords=stretch+belt

u/Treat_Choself · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hats are the best! I'm a hat queen though, because I've had several melanomas. Wallaroo makes some of my favorite "cute" hats - search for them on other websites too for the best price, as some are a little spendy. If you don't want to spend that much, you can usually find older or discontinued styles for much less on Amazon or Sierra Trading Post (which has amazing deals if you find a good coupon) by searching for "upf hat." Outdoor Research makes some great, lightweight and crushable hats that are priced really well on STP in particular. Oh, and I just got this hat and while it totally makes you look like a farmer, it is reasonably cute and the price is right. Feel free to ask me more questions - I think I'm at about 25 different sun hats at this point.

ETA: And if a hat fits properly, it shouldn't interfere with your glasses. I wear contacts most of the time with HUGE vintage sunglasses from the 70s (they're cool, I swear) and have never had a problem wearing those or my regular glasses with a hat.

u/yoboydannyboy · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

It is possible to find something under $500! Just don't forget to factor in cost of alterations. You can start with ASOS and Lulu's. I got mine from Azazie and came out just at $500 after alterations (I did custom sizing but measured my chest wrong and needed smaller cups), veil from Amazon (my mom used her fabric shears to trim to waltz length), shoes, and belt. Other sources are Etsy shops with custom sizing from China (search for LaceMarry and other Etsy shop reviews on the wedding subreddits). I can PM you photos of me in my dress is interested.

u/Magic_Rat · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Just picked up a pair of Ray-Ban Clubmasters. What are your thoughts on how they look on me? I posted in the fit check thread and a couple people suggested they were too small, which I think may be the case, but I have gotten mixed reviews. Any other thoughts? I ordered the Oversized Clubmaster frames to try out as well, which will come tomorrow, and I'm going to return whichever one looks worst. I also got a pair of Tortoise Wayfarers, which I love, so I'll throw in a shot of those too. Thanks!

u/GokusSparringPartner · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Amazon actually has some good prices on veils. I considered making mine. If you get tulle and lace to make your own, it is so much cheaper to buy the raw materials online than in a craft store. A quick search for the term "chapel wedding veil ivory gives a lot of options, but here are a couple of different ones.

Depending on how frugal you want to be, I picked up these Merry's Sunglasses for about $12 on Amazon. Free no reason returns for prime members made it easy to buy a few pairs and send back the ones I didn't want. The ones linked were decent quality and fit nicely (I have a slightly larger head than average).

In Indiana. On the colder days wore a cheap fingerless thinsulate mitten (the mitten and the thumb can be folded back if needed...rarely needed) on my left hand. On my right hand I'd wear a variety of gloves. My favorite was a neoprene like ski glove with tacky finger pads and palm. I like a fairly tight flexible glove on my hand.

Remember to go a little lighter with the flats on your arm and dps in your hand on the sub-zero days. Restricting the blood flow too much can make your fingers go numb quick.

u/DoppleFlopper · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Alternatively to a wallet, you could use a money clip and a credit card holder. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and styles different from wallets, and range just as much in price. Some variants come built together too if you still want to carry all your stuff together, but it can be useful to have your cash separate from your cards sometimes. It's something to keep in mind. Some phone cases even double as card holders which is pretty nifty.

I personally have made these but if you don't want to deal with that they are cheap enough to buy.
