Yeah I was thinking a I should invest in a high quality Sightmark mounted at 45 degrees to the left so I can double my accuracy.

Gun:
G&G CM16 is solid. It has rails, is pretty light, and is suitable for CQB. Get him a couple of hi-cap magazines, 9.6v butterfly battery and smart charger to go with it and he's set gun wise.

Eye and Face pro:
I really like my Pyramex I-Force, never fog, low-profile, and meet the ANZI impact requirements so his eyes will be safe. The OneTigris mesh mask is really comfortable and will protect his face and more importantly his teeth. There are some that clip onto FAST and BMP helmets as well. Small version and one with ear-pro attached.

Honestly if he holds the barrel, there's no need to spend money on a grip, you can always go back and buy it later if he wants it. Same goes for the other equipment and attachments, stick with the basics and make sure he likes it before heavily investing.
A lot of people stand by Just Airsoft Ammo for BBs. Only use .2g BBs at the minimum. .12s and cheap BBs will mess up the gun's internals and may shatter on impact, potentially seriously injuring the person who was shot.

If you can swing an extra $40, Vortex has the best red dots for the price point. Also a full no bullshit lifetime warranty.

https://gun.deals/product/vortex-strikefire-ii-red-dot-redgreen-dot-wlower-13-co-witness-cantil-14930-wcode-spring15-o?mobile=true

They're usually $179, don't know how long that deal lasts.

If you really can't go over $100, SightMark makes semi decent stuff. Don't go too hard on it though.

Little $40 cheapo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000W4BQ7K/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1496518870&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sightmark+red+dot&dpPl=1&dpID=51wta5L7snL&ref=plSrch

Slightly more robust EOtech style, I had one of these. Lasted a couple years of range time then the power button stopped working. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004TDIDW6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1496518920&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sightmark+red+dot&dpPl=1&dpID=41uaubKMNvL&ref=plSrch

Definitely get the vortex if you can though

There are protective glasses available that can resist actual bullets (anything that meets the MIL-PRF-31013 specification), usually listed as 'Ballistic eyewear'. They can be a bit expensive, so it might not be an option for most of the protesters there. But it'll protect a hell of a lot better than those safety goggles shown
in the video.

EDIT: Looks like Goggles that meet the MIL-DTL-43511D standard might be the best bet. as they're not too expensive. It's kind of hard to tell what the best choice is though, there's a lot of different specifications for these things... it's down right confusing.

Regardless, it'd definitely have a good chance of saving some eyes.

EDIT 2: Alright, this post from an airsoft subreddit clears up some of the standards confusion. So MIL-PRF-32432 is basically the same as MIL-DTL-43511D if they're both goggles, either will do the job. Where as MIL-PRF-31013 was a lower rated standard for eyeglasses, and also applies to MIL-PRF-32432 sunglasses (not goggles).

If you're OK with doing two layers instead of a parka, I think that you can do better for cheaper. Any thick down midlayer with a heavy shell will take you to the really cold temps and give you great flexibility. I have a Spyder Bernese with an Arc'teryx Beta AR shell and it holds up great around -40F. I like that I can mix and match the parts. E.g. the Bernese is great at -10F by itself. The Beta AR shell works great as a rain jacket in the summer. The shell + a cotton hoodie is great down to 20F. I take advantage of these differences in thermal capacity when shoveling snow, scraping my car, or doing other types of high effort activities in very cold weather.

Down at -40F, you'll want some substantial hand cover too. I like wearing heavy wool gloves inside of military issue mitten shells. That is a great, flexible solution that you can mix up depending on your needs.

I just found this, it is 1.5 inches smaller than the normal one.

u/PlaceboJesus · 3 pointsr/airsoft

There are refillable cylinders.

But you need to fill them from a larger tank. However, that is also refillable.

Once you factor in the outlay for however many cartridges you think you'll need, and your larger tank, and the cost of recharging your tank...
I have no idea if it becomes cost effective or how much shooting you'd need to be doing for there to actually be savings.

u/parametrek · 3 pointsr/flashlight

Why not a generic rail mount like this that will take any flashlight with a 1" body tube?

And then toss in an Armytek Dobermann and a matching pressure switch. Total of $115.

edit: Dobermann Pro looks worth it for the $5 bump.

It's on Amazon

Also, you should practice reloading without looking. It helps and, in my experience, isn't difficult to learn.

u/Vic_the_Dick · 2 pointsr/ar15

This and this will only set you back about $50.00 and should be compatible with your gas block mounting rail.

I mainly use the green laser and my lowest power/widest field eyepiece, skipping the finder scope altogether when using my main scope. The finder scope is a 6x30, Orion, and does mount via dovetail. It's an okay finder scope, easy to calibrate, and got me by for a while and I still have it on there to use. On my other scope I just use a red dot finder like the one you linked to. Some people really like Telrads. Here's a tip: try keeping both eyes open when using the finder, it feels weird at first, but once you get used to it it's easier to aim. Keep on practicing and good luck!

That's a good solid piece. I'm using one for a Sub-2000 red dot setup. Amazon has it cheaper.

Pics of sight in link

Hey guys, quick question for those of you more experienced with AR-15 irons than I am. I just put together a super cheap, very basic AR for a trainer rifle and decided on the UTG Super Slim rear sight for the build. I didn't notice it when putting the sight on the rifle and zeroing (wasn't looking for it either) but the rear sight has some play, with a ball detent on one side. This causes the gap to be larger between one side of the rear hood and the body than on the other. There is a hole in the sight hood that does correspond to a hole in the body of the mount that looks like it may be a pin hole. When aligning these holes by pressure on the rear of the sight, it does sit flush on both sides. Is this normal, and is it possible I've lost the pin? In pictures of the sight I've found online I can't tell if there is a pin there or not. Do any of you have this sight? And is a slight amount of play in this area normal? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Sadly this didn't even occur to me...a pin here would prevent windage adjustments entirely so I doubt there's anything wrong. Derp. Still would like hear what you all have to say. Feeling kinda dumb.

Edit 2: Was wrong about the windage adjustment prevention. I really appreciate all the help!

Saw this recommended over on gundeals if you're looking for a permanent one and not a BUIS.

I have a Nikon P223 scope and angled my Iron sights, they work great..
These are what I used to angle my magpul flip up sights.

u/brzcory · 2 pointsr/1022

That's not accurate at all.

The stock sight literally looks through the rail. There's a notch cut in the rail to be able to look through.

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/ruger.jpg

As the TRS25 sits above the rail, it'd be impossible for it to co-witness.

Here's a guy who put that together anyway though: http://www.perfectunion.com/vb/ruger-10-22/112769-bought-new-10-22-today.html#post968513

And his pic here really shows how much higher the TRS25 would sit above the sight-line of the open sights (which again look straight through that channel in the pic rail): http://www.perfectunion.com/vb/attachments/ruger-10-22/30113d1457466285-bought-new-10-22-today-100464147.jpg

___

That being said, you do have options. A riser won't really help, because the cross-bar for any pic mount is going to block the view. However, a QD mount for the TRS would allow you to quickly take it off if need be and use the irons.

Or, as is always the answer: Tech Sights will co-witness. But you'd need both the front and rear as they're both taller.

u/redrider_99 · 1 pointr/gundeals

This was the rear sight I was planning to go with if I got a pinned front sight upper since I saw no need for a folding rear sight.

https://www.amazon.com/UTG-Super-Picatinny-Fixed-Sight/dp/B077BHS1BK/

You can go cheaper yet, but they start looking a little sketchy IMO.

Edit: also, the kit you linked has the EPT trigger which is supposedly a good improvement over standard mil-spec. I was just reading a review today that put it on par with the ALG QMS trigger.

Essentials:

G&G Firehawk

2x Battery

Charger

Eye protection

Mouth protection

Extra's:

Extra magazine

Red dot

Silencer seems pretty stupid on a stubby gun, but if you really want one go ahead and take whichever one you like. The G&G Firehawk is a solid starter CQB gun with a very nice sound + ROF. I'd stay away from those starter package, those are just some sales talk to get rid of their shittiest options.

How about $13 shipped from Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AYA1V5E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

They never fog, unlike most other goggles that don't have a fan.

Edit: alternate link with prime shipping. I bought mine from the first link, and it came in a clearly opened and battered packaging (not the shipping box) but the goggles were in excellent condition.

I sweat like a fucking pig and have fogged up $100 pairs and $15 pairs.

Just ran these indoor from 10 to 4 in 100 degree heat and not a drop of fog.

Streamlight's Polytac can be had for about $35. Throw it in a Blackhawk mount, and you've got a decent setup for less than $50.

I have browline frame glasses and these goggles by spider work pretty well. I just took them out to some trails today and the only problem was my glasses fogging up a little bit but I made it up a technical trial quite slowly and they worked fine. These are also half the price of the Oakley over glasses goggles!
