There's already an ok google app and an Alexa skill.

Aren't there already a few Alexa apps that can control Teslas?

EDIT: Found five actually!

There is a Google Assistant and Amazon app which I use to unlock and cool the car which works fairly well.

Thanks for the confirmation. That’s great to hear. Now if they’d just hurry up and let me order one - I’ve been on the invitation list since it was announced.

There are some interesting Tesla-specific Alexa skills, like this one, that might be worth checking out. This might be a way to get better voice controls in the car for stuff like climate, opening the Frunk, etc. until Tesla gets around to implementing it natively.

It’s also worth noting that this would be a cool way to control some of your home automation, if you have any (lights, garage door, etc.). I also find the “announce” or “tell everybody” feature to be useful to play a message on all the Echos in the house (e.g. “Alexa, tell everyone I’ll be home in 5 minutes”).

How are you mounting it/where do you have it placed in the car? I’ve been thinking of the best way to approach that. I know it comes with double sided tape, but I love how minimalist the Model 3 interior is, and would want to find a way to make it pretty much hidden, while still being able to hear voice commands. Interested on your take.

Have fun with it, and let us know if you find any cool uses for it!

Useful Alexa Skill for checking garage fullness :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JNDK6TT?ref=skillrw_dsk_pnps__2

I don't have that setup but did you enable the app?

Beyond that you can contact Amazon support and they'll help you out.

Edit: You also have to link your accounts if you haven't already.

I just did another search and found this:

https://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Motors-North-America-Inc/dp/B07B9HN9R5

I don't think that page lists ALL the things Alexa can do in your car as it also says:

"For a list of available features, use Alexa to “ask Toyota, what can I do” or “ask Toyota, what’s new”"

here is some more of what is at that link above:

Basic Interactions
“Alexa, ask Toyota to start my car” **
“Alexa, ask Toyota to stop my car” **

“Alexa, ask Toyota to lock my car”
“Alexa, ask Toyota to unlock my car”

“Alexa, ask Toyota how much gas is in my car”

“Alexa, ask Toyota if my car is running”

“Alexa, ask Toyota if my doors are locked”

“Alexa, ask Toyota how many miles are on my car”

Multi-car Interactions
“Alexa, ask Toyota what’s my active vehicle”
“Alexa, ask Toyota to change my active vehicle”

there's this, but I don't have an alexa device to know if it works or not.

There's an Alexa version too:

It looks like it only works with US cars as it wanted me to login to Nissan USA.
