I think its this.

My model is older thought. Yes, I for sure recommend. It is cordless, powerful, and works great in my little apt. No complaints.

Get one of these for your room. Then lock it up and keep it locked since she can't behave like a fucking adult and NOT BREAK THINGS like a child. It's the most amazing vacuum I have ever owned. https://www.amazon.com/Dyson-Animal-Cordless-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B06XG7WKKL/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=dyson+wall+vacuum&qid=1566086180&s=gateway&sr=8-1

I have trouble standing and walking, but am fine when sitting, so most of my advice is from that viewpoint.

Swiffers for everything! Mop/sweeper, duster, dusting cloths, etc. They're really efficient and disposable so I don't have to deal with things like mop buckets, dirty mop heads, cleaning feather dusters, anything like that.

One of those extendable pincher things to help pick stuff up off the floor.

An extendable scrubber for the bathroom. The shape makes it really easy to get into corners.

A clothes folder makes it really easy to fold your clothes, and I can use this on my lap while sitting down in bed.

A walker with a seat makes it really easy to get around to do things and has a seat for when I need to sit down. The basket that most come with helps to carry supplies from one room to the next.

Stick vaccums are super lightweight and easy to maneuver even from a couch or bed.

A scrubbing attachment that goes on a power drill is so helpful when you don't have the strength or stamina to scrub by hand.

I swear by all of the Kaboom products. All of them are no-effort cleaning supplies. They have toilet cleaner, mold and mildew cleaner, and, of course, the famous shower foam.

An automatic vacuum like a roomba is great for most people, but I've never had one so I can't comment myself.

Soak your dishes. There are special products that help get dried on food off your dishes, but I've found that just soaking them in hot water for 20-30 minutes before trying to wash them gets most stuck on food off. For really tough, baked on gunk, add a dryer sheet to the water. Sounds weird, but it helps soften up the crusty blackened burnt on food and it comes off easily.

For food that's stuck on the inside of the microwave, take a cup of water, add some lemon juice, and microwave it on full power for 6 minutes. The food will wipe right off.

I might think of more things later. If I do I'll come back and edit this post.

u/meaning_please · 4 pointsr/IAmA

Haha, that's an awesome response. You know vacuums so well that you know when someone doesn't need one!

FYI, here's the $20 stick vacuum / plug-in dust buster that I use.

For just tile and wood, it works much better than just a Swiffer. No agitating brush. Couldn't find data on its inches or kPA.

It's The Shark. I have one. Works pretty good too.

I'd choose the small or medium Vornado fan before the Dyson. I've been using it fulltimeing for five years now and it really does make the whole room feel cooler.

I'd also recommend:

a washer/dryer combo if you have room.

Square Pizza stone and thermometer for the oven.

LED Bulbs for everything 12v and 110v

Hahaha! I have a rough rawhide mallet that I rub myself with after the shop cat get his daily dose of affection. That hammer is surprising effective at removing pet fur.

But really, if you are looking to clean up your act, making chores as easy as possible is the way to go. We found that getting a cordless vacuum, like this Dyson V6 Animal, made pet fur removal much less of a chore. It's always ready to de-fur any surface and there is no cord to slow ya down. You can probably find them on Craigslist for around $100. The amount of crap it'll suck out of your carpet will make you go "yuck".

LG vacuums don't have parts support in the US .
I would go with the V8 or v7 HEPA over the V10 for handheld feel and wight. I would a non motorized floor brush for your Dyson to help with pick up on wood floor without scattering debris & scratching it.

Eureka Easy Clean 2 in 1 Lightweight Vacuum, 169B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000067E3F/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_UzDavb07DQY2P

I went with this one. It's definitely not a heavy duty one or anything, but I will only be using it mainly in my bedroom/bathroom and it looks ideal for that.

u/justotron · 3 pointsr/AskMen

No joke, get a upright dyson vac possibly with pet hair attachment. It's so light and hides away in a closet, so that it takes 2 seconds for a quick cleanup. I speak from experience. I never really realized how much hair I left in the bathroom from trimming my beard and shaving my head. Now I use the vac and keep everything clean.

u/bdgbill · 3 pointsr/dogs

I have a Golden Retriever and two cats with all hardwood floors. Fur management is a big part of my life.

First of all, be glad you have wood floors because once you are setup, wood and tile floors are so much easier to keep clean of pet hair.

Second, I'm sure others will mention this but any fur you proactively remove from your animals by brushing is fur that you will not have to clean up. My life has been much easier since I convinced myself of this fact. Brush, brush brush. Brush everyday. It's good bonding time between you and your dog and it's easier than vacuuming. If you can't get a loaf of bread sized hairball off your Golden everyday in the summer, you need a different brush. Also, consider the nuclear option. I used to have my previous Golden shaved every May. By late October, he would have all his fur back more beautiful than ever. He particulalry hated the heat and we saw a big change in his activity level every time we shaved him. Now, shaving Goldens is about as controversial as you can get in the dog world but it worked fine for me.

Tools - I had been considering picking up a $500.00 Dyson "Animal" vacuum. I tend to wear out every vacuum I buy within a year so was going to go for quality. One thing that bothers me about the Dyson (and the Roomba) is that it has a spinning brush. Spinning brushes are the Achilles heel of pet vacuums and really aren't needed for a wood floor. I stumbled on the vacuum linked below and bought it a few weeks ago. Very highly reviewed for pet hair. No spinning brush. The machine is optimized specifically for pet hair and works awesome. $65 bucks.

I bought two of these Dyson stick vacs, one for me and one for my daughter. Both of them stopped working after a couple of years. So I replaced them with much cheaper Electrolux stick vacs from Costco:

http://www.amazon.com/Electrolux-Ergorapido-Brushroll-Handheld-EL1061A/dp/B007FEYKPK

They are $120 at Amazon but I got them for $99. Canadian at Costco. (They are probably cheaper in the States) They work just as well as the Dyson and are still going strong after 3 years. Dyson - never again.

u/vacuumsaregreat · 2 pointsr/VacuumCleaners

After owing one for a few years, I'd strongly recommend a Hoover Platinum LiNX. Although you lose out on the DC59's above floor cleaning ability, this machine comes in at about half the price, meaning that you could pick up some kind of battery powered hand vac for those purposes.

What kind of environment will the vacuum be used in?

u/smash28 · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Seconding the Roomba suggestion. Between that and this cordless stick vac, we handle our 2 cats and 1 dog worth of hair on our hardwood floor.

  1. Something Grey. Manatees love tea too.

  2. Something reminiscent of rain. I have have a 6 hour thunderstorm on my iPod that I listen too almost every night to help me relax and go to sleep. But, my pillow finally gave up the ghost, so I use ear buds...not as comfy.

  3. Food related, yet unusual. May seem tame to most, but my brain can't wrap around how these will/would taste.

  4. On my list for someone else. Slightly NSFW! For my wife who has sensitive...well, you'll understand when you look at the link. She needs this stuff to be more comfortable. I only have to look at them funny and it's too much for her.

  5. A book you should read. The Red Tent, is a book based on the fictional life of Dinah from the old Testament. She is is mentioned only once I think in the bible, but the author of this book weaves a life story based on how women where treated and lived back then. Dinah lives in a harsh world but learns from the women around her and see the workings of this mysterious entity called God in her world. It is a wonderful read and having to tell you about it reminded me I want it again to reread. Really a great book.

  6. Item that is less than a dollar. This awesome awesome fantastic song!

  7. Something for my kitty Cassie May. I've always wanted one of these for my kitty and this was the perfect opportunity to finally add it to my WL.

  8. Something that is not useful, but so beautiful I must have it. Isn't it a beautiful ring?

  9. A movie everyone should watch once in their life. Because it is so imaginative and awesomely made with the puppets and sets. And David Freaking Bowie and his cod piece and hair are sexy yet so evil. ....you remind me of the babe

  10. Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Keep my shankin' knives sharp yo!

  11. Something that would have a profound impact on my life and help me to achieve my current goals. Currently I have no real space to do my painting and in a month and a half I'm moving and will have even less space to myself and my painting. This would enable me to paint at any table. For without being able to take a breather and paint, I can not be myself and have those moments to detach and relax so I can later go out and be the best adult I can be.

  12. Pesky add-on. To make your hair o'so happy.

  13. The most expensive thing on my list. My phone is currently my only camera. I've always dreamed of owning a "professional" camera to go take pictures of all the things!

  14. Something bigger than a bread box. Vroom Vroom

  15. Something smaller than a golf ball. Tee Tiny!

  16. Something that smells wonderful. Romance by Ralph Lauren. Has been my go to perfume since highschool.

  17. SFW Toy. She's evil but she's suitable for any setting!

  18. Something that would be helpful for going back to school. Everyone needs to look stylish and stay cool for school!

  19. Something related to my current obsession. I've become crazy about all things tea!

  20. Something SO AMAZING! BEHOLD the splendor It's adorable, handmade, and I have seriously become so enamored with it! Thought you might like to see it's awesomeness.

Definitely declutter. Less stuff = less surfaces to clean.

I also try to be very aware of my habits and create systems around them.

For instance, instead of kicking my shoes off in a random spot near the door, I now rest them under my end-of-bed-bench. My most used shoes are easily accessible but out of sight.

Also, you know the chair? The chair that everyone has that turns into a mountain of clothes? In an ideal world, our worn-but-not-dirty-enough-for-the-laundry clothes would be hung back up into the closet where they belong... but I am (and my boyfriend is also) way too lazy for that.

So instead of tossing them onto the chair, we recently purchased one of those cute woven baskets that people usually use for displaying chic blankets in the living room and put it next to the end-of-bed-bench in our bedroom. It’s become our catch all. It’s small enough that we have to exercise some adulting to keep it from overflowing and becoming an eyesore but not so small that it’s not functional.

I’m all about efficiency, so creating little systems like this for myself has really made a world of difference.

I also recommend looking into a cordless dyson vacuum. It’s lightweight but still pretty damn powerful - and way less cumbersome than dragging out a huge vacuum. It’s so easy to just pick it up and do a quick once-over of the room. Since it’s not a huge production I do better at staying on top of that particular facet of cleaning.

Edit: added a link to the vacuum.

I recommend the shark ionflex: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074F2YGBF/

I bought it right before we had our daughter and it is perfect for what you are describing. It folds up when not using to put into a corner. The batteries come out to go in a charging dock so you dont have to have the entire vacuum near an outlet to charge. There are 2 batteries so if you do a bunch of vacuuming you can switch mid way through. The only downside is the colection bin is a little small so you may need to empty it out mid clean if doing a bunch of rooms at once. For just a room it will hold stuff just fine. We had a friend hire someone to clean our house for us as gift before the baby came and she loved it when she tried it. So I take that as a good sign when someone that cleans for a living approves.

I've got a Dyson Ball vacuum ($300 new) but always use this $30 Eureka vacuum instead:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075P7J8BB

Since it's so light (4 lbs, 1.8kg) I use it regularly.

The Dyson is 15lbs(6.8kg) and a hassle to use. Turns out the heavy weight is why I rarely vacuumed.

u/theundeadsteve · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I have a Shark Rocket stick vacuum that converts to a hand vacuum and other vacuum types. It works great, I use it to vacuum the stairs, area rugs, walk to wall carpet, apolstery, drapes, and even get the cobwebs in the ceiling corners.

I have this and it is seriously awesome with pet hair. We have two dogs and 4 cats and I run this at least every other day. It has a small cannister so it has to be emptied almost with every use but it's super easy to empty and maintain. I LOVE it. Really. It makes me way happier than a vacuum should. It has the pull out dust buster/handheld thing as well. A full battery charge will let me do my large living room and kitchen, stairs, and bedroom all in one go, but just barely.

u/nonconformistnugget · 2 pointsr/college

Swiffer's are pretty great for cleaning floors and they aren't expensive. Also get a small vacuum for any carpeting. If you like coffee, definitely get a Keurig. If you're in an area that has cold winters, a comforter for your bed will be important (there are some really cute ones at Target). For when it's warmer out, having a small fan will help the air in your room circulate better. As for LED light strips, this one from Amazon worked really well for me.

I did a lot of research & settled on this amazing $79 steam mop from O-Cedar last year:

https://www.amazon.com/Cedar-Microfiber-Steam-Extra-Refill/dp/B00US9PSKU/

Notes:

  • Add water using the included cup, plug it in, turn it on - and in less than a minute, it's ready to go
  • No chemicals required due to hi-temp steam
  • Only requires water to operate (I haven't had any problems with my tap water a year into using it, fwiw)
  • It uses washable microfiber pads that stick on like velcro

    Tips:

  1. Push it slowly to allow the steam to do its just, don't use it quickly like a broom
  2. Hold it over really sticky spots for 30 seconds to let the steam do the work for you, then scrub it off
  3. It will self-evaporate due to the heat, so just give it a few minutes to steam off the floor - this steam mop system has made my floors feel better under bare feat than any mop or chemical cleaner or DIY cleaner mix I've tried previously!
  4. It's a boring approach, but divide your room into lines that you can reach with your arm, then start cleaning from the furthest point away from an opening into another room, use the mop in parallel lines side to side, then take a step back & do the next batch within arms reach; you have to go a bit slow for the steam to work, but this way you're not just mopping all over the map inefficiently - you actually get the job done surprisingly quickly this way, it's only a few minutes per room if you're willing to do it slowly in chunks
  5. I'd recommend getting a pack or two of the aftermarket pads for cheaper than OEM - get a bunch of them, because they should (1) only be washed with other microfiber pads (otherwise they'll pick up lint), and (2) NOT be washed with fabric softener or bleach; this is a minor hassle, which is why I recommend getting a bunch of them, so then you can wash them together (I also use microfiber towels for drying my car after cleaning it)
  6. Some flooring manufacturers do not warranty the use of a steam mop on their product, so make sure you're aware of that fact; fwiw, I've been using it on my textured vinyl wood-plank flooring for a year now with no bad results, and tbh, I'd rather redo my flooring as needed & enjoy the convenience of using the steam mop for regular cleaning because it's such a lower hassle than using a regular mop (also tried a mop robot, wasn't a huge fan...the vacs are great but the mopping one was mediocre...and this cheapo model is so easy to use & quick that I don't mind steam-mopping my floors as needed)

My overall cleaning kit is pretty simple:

  7. Small spills = paper towels (hard floors) or spray carpet cleaner (carpets)
  8. Mopping = O-Cedar steam mop
  9. Vacuuming & sweeping ("electric broom") = Shark duo stick vac (absolutely fantastic)
  10. Carpet cleaning (shampooing) = Hoover unit (with Carpet Miracle cleaner solution)

My cleaning schedule is pretty simple:

  11. Clean up small spills immediately as they happen
  12. Vacuum & sweep daily using the Shark unit
  13. Mop twice a week using the O-Cedar unit (wash the pads as you get enough to run a laundry load)
  14. Carpet-clean once a month using the Hoover (I do half a room at a time & just move the furniture to the other side of the room to wash one half of the floor & then let it dry...makes the chore super-easy, instead of being a big huge job)

It's really nice to have an instantly-usable set of good tools to do your daily cleaning functions with. I don't like cleaning for hours & hours or having to do a lot of heavy lifting...this setup enables me to quickly buzz through my chores so that my flooring stays clean all the time without much effort!

If you have hard floors and not that much to pick up, this thing is ultralite and convenient in every way:
http://www.amazon.com/Electrolux-Ergorapido-Handheld-Cordless-EL1022A/dp/B005DSK72A/ref=sr_1_2?s=vacuums&ie=UTF8&qid=1398483536&sr=1-2

My house is mostly hardwood floors and tile. I use Bissel PowerEdge Hard Floor for the hard surface floors, which is most of my house.

I have all cats, no dog. My biggest problem was cat hair and kitty litter on the floor. The tank is very easy to empty and the vacuum itself is light and simple to use. It has no problem picking up litter, dirt, and hair. I use it on an almost daily basis. It's only for hard floors, but it is cheap.

I use a Hoover pet series vacuum for the carpet. It seems wasteful to have two vacuums for the different floor types, but I have yet to find a good vacuum that will do both effectively. Vacuuming often makes mopping less of a necessity for me.

u/midgetcricket · 1 pointr/internetparents

We used to live out of suitcases (due to Mom's employment, not this, this sucks and I'm so sorry they're going through this)! Small portable game systems are a must for kids, I don't know if that's something that they made it out with, but they sure made our lives better. I would have killed for a Kindle, but even old systems from a second hand shop or a yard sale (sometimes you have to leave them behind anyway, it's hurts less if they weren't expensive) would probably be welcome. Phone cards, even just one a piece for emergencies, are incredibly helpful. We sometimes used blow up furniture, they don't often last long, but it's fun, it's portable, and it's yours. Decorative throws serve multiple purposes: as blankets, you can hang them for decor that helps the heating bill, and then you can wrap your stuff in them when you leave again. A camera, so that you can focus on new happy memories (not trying to encourage repression, but it really makes forgetting the bad parts easier later when you have concrete proof of the good ones). Stuff for a luxurious bath every now and then would be 'frivolous' enough for a gift, and it helps with the mental health, as well as technically being practical (everyone needs to be clean!).

> She also has no car

Is there any form of public transportation where they are? You could spring for a month's bus/tram/equivalent pass.

As for the organizing, there are the closets that hang, or the collapsible stand alone wardrobe. There's pop up storage bins, or this hoarder enabling abomination that I may be buying myself now. These things are like suitcases you never have to unpack.

I actually have this vacuum, it works awesome on hard floors and gets the job done on carpets if you keep at it, it's fairly quiet for a vacuum, and comes apart for getting hard to reach areas/fixing when you sucked up something it shouldn't have eaten. You could toss in a few small office/kitchen sized trashcans and liners to match, a lot of people can stay clean if they have arms reach access to a bin, but never think about buying extra bins.

You said that she has some cookware, but I'm going to add this here anyway. We always left behind the measuring spoons and cups, then wouldn't buy more until we absolutely had to. We often lived in hotels and lived off of whatever could be microwaved or grilled on the hibatchi (note, that was an example, don't spend more than $20 on one), and a good set of microwavable dishes makes a world of difference as to what you can make. Spices to dress up canned veggies are also indispensable and often out of budget, even if it's just some Mrs. Dash mixes, seasoning salt, garlic powder.

Lastly though, I want to commend you. You're an awesome friend. The world would be a better place with more of you. Knowing that someone out there has your back can mean everything when you have nothing. Good luck to your friend and her son, I hope your care package makes their day.

u/risumon · 1 pointr/IAmA

I am thoroughly impressed that this is still active and you are answering questions still.

Are there any good portable vacuums for doing stairs and the like? Ideally a battery powered one. We have about 30 carpeted steps to do, so a battery could be sufficient, but I am worried I will just be wasting money if I do buy one.

We currently have a Kenmore canister vac that is decent for the rest of the house, but unwieldy on the stairs and I'm assuming most other canister vacs would be the same.

Example of an electrolux I was considering

Thank you in advance.

I'm looking to get a Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum for my workplace, as we have hardwood floors on one half and concrete on the other, and sweeping never really gets the place clean, no matter what my boss tells me.

Thoughts on it? I was mostly trying to stay away from a corded vacuum, if only because we don't have a lot of accessible outlets at work. But I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

I have the V6, but apparently they have a V8 now:

The key is to make sure you get the one with the fluffy head:
http://www.dyson.com/vacuums/tools/cordless/soft-roller-cleaner-head.aspx

It's amazing on smooth floors, and can pick up larger stuff (e.g. pieces of cereal) that wouldn't go under the edge of an ordinary head.

I mop semi-regularly too, but this takes care of most of my floor cleaning

If you will be bringing this around with you, I would change the Vali with the Magni. You might also want to change those open back headphones for their closed counterpart.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Monoprice, but the jist of their brand is that they copy designs that other companies make. Here is a 'Roomba' that they make. It looks and works exactly the same as a Roomba, but costs less. Here is a 'Dyson' that they make. Once again, it looks the same and probably works the same, for a fraction of the price. Here is a 3D printer that is just a replica (rebadged?) Malyan M300 (which retails at $200 I think).

Anyways, they just make the same stuff as other brands, but cheaper.

Now, look at the M1060 from Monoprice, and look at the Audeze LCD 2. It is very clear to me that Monoprice ripped off that design, but made it for $250 instead of $1000.

Here is a comparison of the two on head-fi. I'll grab a few quotes from the review in case you don't want to read it. It was the first link that showed up on google when I searched "m1060 vs lcd 2".

> Comfort: This one's pretty subjective. For me, the LCD's headband fits nicely over my large head and I have no issues. Both headphones are incredibly heavy, but it's due to the materials they are built with, and I see that as a good thing. I can wear both headphones for hours on end, although I will say that overall, the M1060's are more comfortable.

> SQ wise, the Audeze's win...... But let's go back to the "baby LCD" question on the M1060's. At their given price, the M1060's are a strong performer. Most of the sound characteristics are reminiscent of the LCD-2. I'd say it's less refined (and it is the truth) with the bass being more uncontrolled and most tracks sounding "crowded". The LCD-2 gives the track more room to breathe and really squeezes every ounce out of a well recorded track. With that being said, the M1060's are about 80-85% of the LCD-2's (to my ears) at well under 1/3 the price when new.

> If you have the means, and are looking for a set of warm, open backed cans, the Audeze's are a fantastic choice. However, if you are more budget oriented, the M1060's are a wonderful, cost effective option to the LCD-2.

Let's move on. Joshua Valour made a fantastic comparison video. He is a pretty well respected headphone reviewer, and I personally trust everything he says about them.

I'm watching it now, so I'll just grab some quotes from the video so you don't have to do it. (They won't be word for word unless they have "quotes" around them.)

> The M1060 have a good midrange and high end, but don't have the bass extension that the Audezies(idk how to spell that) do.

> The LCDs have a bit of a treble dip that keeps them less fatiguing.

> The LCDs feel a bit duller while the M1060s are sharper

> Vocals sound good on the M1060 but feel a bit more filled out with the LCDs

> "I am going to give an 'openness factor' to the 1060s "

> The 1060 has a wider soundstage, but the LCDs have better imaging because of the smaller soundstage

> Conclusion: the M1060 is thinner, wider, and crisper. The LCDs are warm, enjoyable, and narrow.

> "The LCD is a better performing headphone in more categores, but I don't know if it's a 3x better headphone"

> "I would say that the 1060s to my preference sound like a more expensive headphone than they are"

Anyways, the fact that he even made this video makes me think that he thinks that they're close enough to be comparable. The fact that he doesn't think the LCDs (which are known for being very good headphones) aren't worth 3x the price is also very impressive for the M1060s.

Alright, so that's good enough in my opinion. I think you got the idea. I think that the M1060 or M1060c would be a very good headphone for the money.

Now, why did I get the Schiit stack? Well, I like the way it looks, especially with that tube. It actually matches the M1060s well, because he mentioned they were a bit thin, and I imagine the tube fills it out a bit more. But I'm not 100% certain.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I'd like to point out that there have been a few revisions of the M1060s, so if you see stuff talking about bad build quality or whatever, that has all been taken care of.

i really recommend getting a dust mop and some additional heads. https://www.amazon.com/Libman-00195-Microfiber-Dust-Mop/dp/B00FVZ8XNU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499011981&sr=8-1&keywords=libman+dust+mop

you can pick up whatever it doesn't pick up with a dust-buster type vac. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R1P3WNE/ref=psdc_510112_t1_B01K1XNVW4

i also got one of these the other day and have used it a lot because i don't have to bust out a mop and bucket. I usually put a 50/50 fabuloso/water mix in the jug on the handle. https://www.amazon.com/Libman-CO-4002-Freedom-Spray/dp/B004GI9ZZS

i wish i had known about this set up earlier. they essentially replicate the functions of a swiffer without generating as much waste. it's easier and faster which makes me clean more often. All the heads are machine washable but i've ended up buying two of each.

I was hoping for something similar to the Dyson DC44. Really I want cordless and big enough canister to tackle large amounts of dog hair/dirt from bare floors. My regular bissell is full after I vacuum the carpets so imagine how fast a DC44 will fill up.

EDIT: I was looking for alternatives and I found a couple:

Bissel

Electrolux

Both you can find on craigslist.

Well it doesn't seem anyone is interested/is to nervous of it being a scam so I'm just gonna post a few that I came across today. These might not all be good flips, that's why I want people who know what they're doing.

  1. Sells for $75 https://www.amazon.com/Dirt-Devil-Accucharge-Cordless-BD20035RED/dp/B002FYYZFK/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1492536612&sr=8-1&keywords=BD20035RED Buy it here for $24

This vacuum
has been wonderful for my hardwood floors as well as the small area of carpeting I have. Hope this helps.

u/carissalf · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ok...this is really expensive ~$50, but I really need this. I have 8-9 animals and a very hard time keeping up with all of the cleaning involved. I would love you forever. ;) It would make me so happy because I love having a clean house but saving animals always takes precedence. Saving animals is my life.

I'm sorry I'm on mobile: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00450U7V8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2C2OIZJLDERQJ&coliid=I1NQJZKY31SBHM&psc=1

I wouldn't mind a fancy vacuum

I have this Bissell hardfloor sweeper and I love it. It’s pretty cheap and does amazing sucking up all the tumbleweeds of dog hair. Plus it’s easy to clean.

I have two vacuums. I use this Electrolux Cordless Vacuum that I use 2-3 times a week on our hardwood floors (LOVE the detachable hand vacuum). I also own this Shark Vacuum that I use once or twice a week on both our hardwood floors and in our one carpeted room. I've been pretty happy with this setup so far. The cordless vacuum is awesome for a quick spot job around the kitchen/living room!!

Sounds like you might want to go with a stick vac to save on space. Dyson V6/V7 likely in your price range with some upholstery attachments. Good for floors, upholstery, above floor cleaning, and very low pile carpets. Can be easily stored in a closet.

I have a fluffy shedding dog. We got a Shark Rocket TruePet vacuum over a year ago and it is a champ! Here's the link if you are interested. I seriously love this vacuum.
