Maybe a foldable easel? I just got one for my birthday (haven't used it yet though) but my brother has been enjoying his for a little under a year. the foldable aspect is nice if she's in an apartment. Alternatively (or additionally) consider an art set if she hasn't drawn anything in a while - help her get back into the game.

It sounds like you have all the basics. It might be easier if you could find some kind of kit that comes with beginner stuff. Something like this, it won't stress you out as much, as sometimes it can be overwhelming shopping for art supplies if you don't know much about it. When it comes to painting, I would ask her if she is interested in watercolor or acrylic, because each one requires different supplies and both are completely different.

If that's the case then I'll have to pick some up especially for the price amazon

Laneco 48 color soft core pencils.

I love these pencils. Soft core is almost like using crayons. You can create different effects or shades of color depending on how much pressure you apply.

I also use a colorless pencil color blender (Fancy smancy words for alcohol pen). It just softens the colors or blends with other colors.

This paired with a few books and gel pens and colored pencils, would look fancy, expensive and important.

Clutch pencil or leadholders over those or mechanical pencils any day.

I know the rage of breaking mechanical pencil lead no more.

Well, heres some tools I like to use and/or think might be a good choice for someone:

For sketching and whatnot this
pencil set is good.

Also Erasers and Blenders are useful

Charcoal pencils are cool too, but maybe not the best starting point. heres a link anyway

Oh, and drawing paper

I realize all this is getting expensive so maybe its best to get her this drawing set. The quality isn't as high in these complete sets, but it does gives her a wide variety of tools to experiment with. (including coloring pencils) The paper sucks in this set, so I would still probably get that separately.

The same folks also make a beginners set of acrylic here. Which seems pretty cool. Again though, it would probably be a good idea to get more paper. I've used this acrylic paper and it seems to be pretty good.

Also, If you want, it might be better to go for watercolor over acrylic.
If so, here is some decent stuff:

Paint or Cheaper Paint

Brushes

Paper

Well, that's all that springs to mind. Let me know if you have any questions that I might be able to answer.

Roger? (Oliver and company :D)

Perhaps this? But I love surprises too!

Just in case for the five one!

I saw your Pablo Neruda books and Gabriel Garcia and I actually squealed.
I'm happy to see somebody wants to read them.
Hmm, since you are into them, I would suggest you take a look at this first book from a saga I'm reading. It's awesome and makes you understand certain aspects of Spain back in the days.

As for what I'd like, I would be happy if you'd get me this

May the force be with you(?)

I vaguely remember tamiya or mr hobby having a q-tip but with a sharp point, probably not very common to find but maybe hobbylinkjapan has some probably if you really need them.

Also I don't know if you're refering also to silicon shaper brushes (random amazon link but you get the idea https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Color-Shapers-Brushes-2/dp/B002XKF8DE) that are quite useful for pigments and some washes or maybe you mean make up sticks/sponges that are GOAT to work enamel washes and youo can get those at the dollar store or whatever.

That is the one I purchased. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between them. Perhaps the colors are a little different.

I would recommend a French easel if you set up/tear down a lot. I have a cheap tabletop French easel, and screwed a nut into the bottom so I can attach it to a tripod. That’s what I use for Plein air painting. (I wish I had something more stable though.)

The French Easel would make a good easel for use in an apartment. You can stow it pretty easily, and you can take it with you for Plein air painting.

Something like this is what I have in mind. I can’t recommend that one in particular because I’ve never used it, but that’s the kind of thing I’d be looking into.

What do you think about this set that has a little bit of everything? http://www.amazon.com/Gallery-Studio-Quality-Mediums-Guaranteed/dp/B008AH6PPE And a sketchbook to go along with? Is a 5.5x8.5" book enough?
