Bialetti - stove top espresso maker - you'll never need to buy an expensive coffee maker ever again.

Leuchterm 1917 journal for my bullet journal

6in Ruler to go with my journal - fits in the back pocket perfectly

Huhuhero Color Pen Set also to go with my journal -- has every color you'll need and has a really nice thickness. I use a finer tipped Staedtler for writing but these pens are perfect for titles and decorating and under $6 can't be beat

Customizable dog tag

Ahava Dead Sea Bath Salts - for a luxurious bath that won't dry you out

Ramekins for all of your baking needs. It's also fantastic to use for cooking (holding onto spices, separating eggs, etc.) and for serving dips.

Dog Toy Basket - adorable, holds a ton of toys, and looks really chic in my apartment.

Salt and Pepper Mill Grinders - pretty and functional

Bath Overflow Cover - get your water higher for a more satisfying bath

Bath Spa Pillow

Grippy Stand - the BEST stand for any size tablet.. I have two of them they're so good

Hotel Spa Cotton Towel 4 Pack - smallish bath towel with so many uses. I leave then by the front door to wipe the pup's paws.

Popin Cookin 9 Pack - the MOST FUN you'll ever have 9 times over

Tons and tons and tons of books - look under the "available for less money" links for "used" paperback versions that will make them super affordable and they usually come nearly brand new!

I am also a fineliner/marker user! Disclaimer: I don't think I'm going to answer your question, but provide my experience.

I upgraded from microns to copic multiliners recently because my markers were frequently smudging my linework and I found the ink flow to vary from pen to pen and session to session.

Also, started out using some cheap Faber Castell markers and upgraded to Copics, and the difference is night and day (second disclaimer: these are both from over a year ago). See how the marker ink on the copics more evenly bleeds through the paper, instead of the clumps in the first picture?

I guess this is my longwinded way of saying, some tools are crazy expensive for a reason. You don't have to go insane and buy the huge sets outright. Just a pen here and there. I started out with a copic greyscale set which comes with one of their fancy pens just to try it out and I haven't looked back.

Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were looking for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This roll from [amazon] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000P6YNHK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Works well for what i need it for, really only acting as storage at home. Cheap and easy.

u/heygracealexandea · 5 pointsr/handlettering

Not a leftie but I loved these when I started out!

Tombow is my personal favorite!

Or

Prismacolor is a great choice as well

Notebooks by themselves can be archived depending on the type of media you are writing on. Welcome to the snobbery that is writing implements and media! I personally use Sakura-brand Pigma Micron 05 pens and acid free journal paper, to prolong the lifespan of any writing. Anything pH neutral in a pen is fine. Paper can get crazy expensive and usually its the ink that fades before the paper totally yellows out. A six pack of sakura pens usually last me the better part of the year - 6 pack

It is just the way my brain works, but I'd keep the topics in categories (I was also imagining how you could better use the content for your future podcasts/interviews). You can also create subcategories for date of a particular topic. That way, you can also add in even more meta ways of recalling the subject: red binders for ETH1.X to ETH2.0 transitions for example. Or green for "MSM" coverage of crypto, etc. It might be harder for someone else to use your work later, but the categorical method is a fun way to store stuff.

And one thing to leverage is google alerts if you are not already. Any topic that you create, make a google alert for as well. Worst case, it'll pick up some of the topics and best case, you'll get even more information to store.

I used Touchnew markers.
Numbers; 64,76,182,CG8,83,143,84,132,145,75, white deleter for the eyes, I overlapped # 76 on 182. # 64 is used to shade for the blue. # 145 is for the shade for the white on the dress. CG8 is for the dress and shoes. #84 is the ribbon. # 83 is for the shade for the dress. For the black I used whatever but make the lines thick haha rem is thick lulz. I used a color pencil for the blush. For the skin I used #132. TBH I would go fairer. Like #26 or #131. I used a micron pen for some of the black I have a black Copic marker so I used that to fill in some stuff I would not use the Copic cuz the brush is hard to control for me now. I would recommend drawing her before you even start to color her. Here is the sauce for the markers I used. And the rest of the art supplies I used. I would not suggest the paper I used.

u/OTHERTEAMSUCKS · 4 pointsr/handlettering

Looks like a Pilot Fude Brush Pen Kofude. Recognized it from my old set.

u/adedward · 4 pointsr/Doom

Oh yeah, put too much time into it to just erase. Made an 11" x 17" stencil that I printed, cut out, and taped to the lectern. Traced that with some chalk I bought a few years ago; outlined in white, removed the stencils and then filled in with red, then orange, then yellow. I'm really happy with how it came out.

Deciding if I want to put anything at the bottom.

u/Armor_of_Inferno · 3 pointsr/EDC

I see you have a bunch of Pigma Micron pens there. I used to use them heavily. Have you ever considered buying a nice set of Rapidographs? They are a bitch to clean if you don't take care of them properly, but they are SO worth the cost savings and the accuracy. Plus you can get them cheap on eBay.

u/p-wing · 3 pointsr/pens

I got a full set of Akashiya Sai watercolor pens for Christmas, actually. They're nice, deep colors, and have no odor.

I've only gotten ever gotten black Microns, though. I've got all 30 of the fineliners, so I don't have a lot of interest in anything but maybe the blue or blue-black for work (and I have G2's and Precise V7's for that).

u/ARehmat · 3 pointsr/mechanicalpencils

Derwent Art Roll, have used it myself for 5+ years, no signs of fraying. Excellent!

Here it is!!

u/howboutme · 3 pointsr/learnart

Something like this (link) is good. Steer clear of bags. This style (link) is borderline passable but I wouldn't put any loose pencils in the bag side. Just be careful not to drop or jostle them too much as it will most likely break the leads in the wood.

u/vivestalin · 2 pointsr/MapPorn

These are pastels though.

u/tedmented · 2 pointsr/trees

I recommend getting pigma microns they're the best imo. I use them for most of my line work. However, for practice and getting your technique down, I use uni pin

u/asymmetricalwhich · 2 pointsr/redditgetsdrawn

Thank you! I just purchased some watercolour pens and I'm still getting used to them, but they're a dream. They're made by a company called Akashiya SAI. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/Akashiya-Sai-Watercolor-Brush-Pen/dp/B000VZB51C

I also have a set of Winsor & Newton watercolour pens, but I honestly like the SAI ones better. (That and they're cheaper.)

u/Khasimir · 2 pointsr/intj

I use fountain pens but probably pretty crappy ones. They always seem to dry up really fast. I did just buy this though and it should be here tomorrow.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQCVNAW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Again, no idea what I'm doing so if you might know, let me know if this is a piece of crap.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I go through pens like coffee. I've been learning Japanese for over a year and a half now and I write all day long, so it's the norm for me to run pens dry. The Sarasa I love because even when they're low they still flow smoothly. The G2 in my experiences does not once it is past the half-way mark. That said the G2 tends to last longer, but it more frustrating for me past half way. (I did find a youtube video on how to push down the gel, but... I don't want to work on a pen that will be dead by the end of the week guaranteed.) I also love to use Bimoji brush pens, especially when learning new kanji. Which I'm excited to get a new one soon so I can use it on the fancy 32lb paper I have now. I'm really nerdy like this. =)

u/Beart8o · 2 pointsr/ArtCrit

Glad to be of help!

I appreciate the embracing of mistakes and not laying everything out beforehand. I would encourage finding something similar but that is capable of creating blacker blacks than a ballpoint. Something like more traditional pen and india ink or some nice art markers, I have this set of Copic markers that I really like.

Kuretake makes a similar set to Tombow, with one soft tip and one hard tip. Pentel also has their Fude Touch Sign Pens in a smaller and larger size compared to the colored pack, where the smaller sized pen tip is comparable to the Fudenosuke hard tip.

Unsolicited review since I've tried all three: Idk if this is just me, but that Fude hard tip pen spits out ink like no other. I think it's less of a problem if you're pressing down on the tip all the way for your down strokes, but I like using the hard tip for a thinner effect all over. I only use about 50% pressure on downstrokes, but even if I graze the pen on the paper for upstrokes, I get a bigger glob of ink than I would like. The Kuretakes seem to do this too, but the Pentel is better at releasing ink at a more moderate rate. The downside of the Pentels is that the tip doesn't seem as hardy as the Fudes.

It's called a brush pen! I'm a big fan of Tombow's double sided brush pens - one side is small like the one I used in this thanks post and the other side is larger, which I also use for brush lettering! This exact one is here!

  • The Pathfinder Combat Pad is a must have tool, imo.
  • If you get the chessex mat, then use Crayola Ultra-Clean Washable Markers and you'll never have to worry about your mat being stained.

Other things I've done, there are lots of free "rpg background sound" websites you can visit. Some of them even have built-in mixers where you can up certain sounds or not. For instance, there was one I visited that had a tavern playing greensleeves. Other than the lute, it matched exactly what I'd expect in a common room so I just turned the lute off and just had the noise of the people, random chair shuffles, random dish clinks, a quiet crackling fire. While this was going on I just had a picture of a common room up on the TV. Likewise I did this for forest sounds and a cavern.

An awesome thing I saw one GM do was take double-cardboard (as in extra thick cardboard, could be replicad by two pieces of "regular" cardboard glued together) and he cut lines for the grid, and spray painted it with "sand" paint. It made an awesome sandstone dungeon scene. And since it was all cardboard he could cut the rooms separate and just laid them out on the table when we encountered each room. When we were approaching the dungeon he had random lego pieces for when we were at an oasis (so rocks and trees sorta thing--not the actual bricks, but pieces that were actual lego rocks and palm trees.).

    Obviously having miniatures, helps.

Other things that look awesome are the 3d dungeon tiles that you see many places, but the ones with walls are actually really hard to play with, so I'd stay away from those (which is most of the 3d pieces).

Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pens
I like them over Tombows because I find Tombows harder to control and easy to fray (even with rhodia paper). I really enjoy using brush pens like these with softer bristles :P

u/effervescenthoopla · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Here's my entry. It was done in Photoshop and pretty much all digital, save for some textures I scanned. :)
As far as pen recommendations go, it sort of depends on price. If you can afford them, I definitely recommend Rapidograph pens.
Most of my class used them when I was in college, and they work absolutely amazingly. They're refillable so much cheaper than rebuying pens in the long run. If you don't want to spend so much at once, I would suggest staying with Micron. They're what I used before I got some Rapidographs and they worked fairly well... I just can't get past the crispness of the Rapidographs!!!

u/rakelreka · 1 pointr/AnimeART

Yeah, I drew it. I was using a Prismacolor Premier brush tip marker in size B. I got it in a set with a few different colors but I honestly don’t really use them that much. It’s a fine marker but there are definitely some better options out there. Lately I’ve been using the Pentel Fude Sign Pens more than the Prismacolor but they both get the job done.

If you're looking for the products he used, don't! It's all extremely expensive, apparently professional-grade stuff.

Why are you still reading? Go away!

Okay, you wore me down. Here they are:

Copic Marker SB12 12-Piece Sketch Basic Set $52.00. There are many, different other sets, but this is a representative selection. Other sets are greater sizes, specific color ranges (eg skin tones).

Copic Multiliner SP Waterproof Pigment Ink Pens Set B, Pack of 4, Black Ink (MLSP4B) $32.00. Again, other different selections exist with different nib selections.

Copic Sketch Marker - 1PK/Colorless Blender $9.00.

For pencils, my favorite is probably my Mars Technico, combined with the tub sharpener. The leads come from 4h-4b, so its a decent range. At 2mm it seems large, but the tub sharpener will put a needle ass point on that badboy. The leads last a pretty long time too.

Other than that, any set of pencils with a range of hardness would be cool, personally i prefer Prismacolor and Staedtler Mars Lumiograph. The technico costed about 16-17$ with the pencil, 3 leads and the sharpener, which i got an office depot.

For pens, I LOVE the Copic Multiliner SP. Pretty spendy, but the ink is refillable and the nibs are replaceable. Doesn't smudge when dry, and I've water colored over it fine even. A more affordable option would be Prismacolor Premier Pens, after about 5 seconds it won't smudge.

u/zulufactor · 1 pointr/itmejp

This is pretty good. In fact it better then i can do and i have some formal training.

2 quick tips

  1. get yourself some good pencils I like these http://amzn.com/B0038D8JQ8
  2. bigger is easier! get big paper (18x24 inches) and use as much of the page as you can. I found that this helped me focus on what the overall shape was and not each individual line

    Keep Practicing :)
u/sheshka0 · 1 pointr/fountainpens

I got a couple of 'pen' wraps ( these ). Being that they're pencil wraps, chunky pens are a little bit of a squeeze, but nothing too difficult. The only ones that really take an persuasion are the Jin Hao X450 and my Faber Castell Basic (never realised it was quite as thick as it is!). I keep them mostly double spaced in there as I don't want them to rub, but it's given me no issues as a cheap fix to the issue.

What kind of pencils do you use? It may just be the picture, but it looks like your shading kind of blends into a medium gray in a lot of places, when high contrast (light grays and really dark blacks) might be more effective.

I would suggest buying a set of Prismacolor Turquoise pencils or similar ones that have "softer" shades like 9B, 8B or 7B. Then use those soft pencils to increase the darkness of places like the eyes and mouth here. If you haven't already, familiarize yourself with how to use hard and soft pencils. It might also help to take an eraser to some of the shading when you're done to make really bright highlights. This can really make shading easier and prettier, resulting in a drawing with higher contrast. :)

u/eclectro · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

Number two pencils you'd be right. But artists using rather high grade and expensive colored pencils will use a pencil extender to eek out all that lead. It does start to add up if you use them a lot.
