iDream365 Upgraded Hard Pencil... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXM6LGS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
These pencil cases for organizing small stuff in your bag. Originally I was just going to use one to organize my charging cables but now I use them everywhere.
So i haven't DM'd in years, since having kids. Decided when kids were old enough i would DM Dungeon world cause of its ease and flexibility.
Oldest is only 4 but hanging out w/ other Dads i was surprised at the enthusiasm to play D&D. So i thought, why not get ready now and invite a couple over to play a oneShot while the kids played.
I pre made some characters (some like 90% e.g. leaving cleric's religion blank). But also made templates if it goes well and they want to create or modify their characters.
Plan to make a GM tin too. maybe some mini maps/tokens. or at least GM Moves, MM cards, and spare dice, & tokens.
Edit: Wow thanks everyone for the positive feedback. Sorry it took so long (3 kids and my oldest is 4!) but here is the link to everything i made so far, I wish i could give credit to the character images but i just googled them:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hxYY_MtgvOf9xTnGawrNFhdSkTIegAra
And here are the amazon links:
The tins (make sure its the big ones)
Mini pencils
Business card sleeves
Also i've had something like this for years for cutting straight lines easy:
https://www.amazon.com/Paper-Cutter-Automatic-Safeguard-Guillotine/dp/B0757DJR8J
http://www.amazon.com/niceEshop-Twilight-Synthetic-Cosmetic-Pouch-Dark/dp/B00DOPP774
I found them on Amazon. There are a few different types with more drawers too.
After taking a year off high school, I am going back to school. I am a freshman and these are the things I will be carrying with me daily.
That's a Pilot Pensemble, you can get them from ebay/amazon/japan. Great wrap, love mine.
https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Pensemble-Pocket-Cowhide-Brown/dp/B005K7H7KE
I stick my journal in my purse (I have a small one) and I just got this case for my pens and mildliners! It's been awesome. All of the little compartments have been super useful.
For that sort of number I'd suggest either one of many generic cases like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XNVV2C2/
Or if you prefer a pen roll then I have this and it works well:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WW5YNI6/
Thanks! You're not going to believe this, but the box is from Amazon!!! I've been looking for the perfect jewelry box for YEARS and I found this box and gave it a try. I added balsa wood dividers (the glue is a bit wet in the photos still, the yellow bits will fade). The pumpkins are one of my favorite pairs, they are from Frozenfire on Etsy. He isn't taking custom orders anymore but he is still adding items to his shop, I expect he will add some more pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns around the fall.
I got these, because the reviews seemed the best: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0746HP1N8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They're a little over a dollar each.
That's the paint I have, I bought the army painter set of 50. I also bought a set of cheap craft acrylics to use for terrain, they average out to like $1 per bottle, magicfly Acrylic 30 pack.
You can find a bunch of paint racks like the ones I got, but here are the ones I bought OPHIR Wooden Paint Rack Stand Pigment Ink Bottle Paints Tool Storage with Cabinet Holder Organizer for 58 Bottles of Paints https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077TGW5QH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Z22nDb0GR3P3T
As far is the light, just search on Amazon for Ottlite And find one you like
I would keep practicing, because honestly I don't think they are bad for a beginner.
Here's my first painting and the pile of paintings I've done, not including ones I have thrown into the garbage:

In that process I have learned that I'm not so great at mountains and I like to do wooded/ forest scenes. After doing that many paintings, I am making ones that I am mostly happy with, but they still don't look like Bob's:
http://imgur.com/a/KgY4J
Try to do some different types of paintings like a forest scene, a meadow or a seascape and see how you like those.
If you are still having trouble with things turning to mud, try using less liquid clear/white. If you are still having trouble with things turning to mud, you might not be beating the brushes out well enough.
The brush beater rack was the single best purchase I made since I started painting.
And remember, Bob Ross did over 30.000 paintings over his career, you've only done 2 so don't get discouraged!
Those little plastic stack-able drawers have served me well, both the small desktop ones and the bigger ones, I have 3 big, 2 small, and another cool like art cart thing with a ton of shallow but big drawers. You have room for those bigger ones under there, I would probably recommend one with more, but smaller drawers for the materials it looks like you have. Something Like this that is a terrible expensive one and I would never buy that, but just an example. I have picked mine up from the side of the road/Goodwill. I have the small ones on my desktop.
Looks like he used a sheet of wood or paneling, similar to the stuff used to make this (maybe some rigid pressboard like in the old preschool jigsaw puzzles)
https://www.amazon.com/OPHIR-Pigment-Storage-Cabinet-Organizer/dp/B077TGW5QH/ref=asc_df_B077TGW5QH/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241895369653&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2651421602996873968&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012122&hvtargid=pla-407037410811&psc=1
He cut the design with a laser machine (They can be very pricey unless you have access to one at work or a shop)
Then used a tongue depressor as a storage slide.
I get compliments on this all the time:

Pretty sure I have the same one and I got it from amazon. It's huge!
Guys! I think I found the bag!!! Sorry OP, if I ruined the magic for you but so many people were asking.
Check out the Lihit Lab Pen Case if you want something that is compact and can be sectioned off to divide your tools. And if you want something in metal, check out the Muji Aluminum Pen Case or something similar. I'd recommend lining it with foam, cork, etc. so your stuff doesn't rattle inside the case.
Are you looking for a drawer organizer? If so, cigar foam trays is the shiznit!
If you're looking for a travel case - roll-up cases from Pilot are wicked awesome, if you have a few pens.
Whatever makeup you choose to wear, one thing I can say is DON’T wear your high end makeup. It’s so dark, guys can’t tell the difference, and no pictures will even be taken. You want to limit your overhead cost as much as possible. I have a separate makeup kit that I bring to work that’s full of strictly drugstore products. I carry them in here so that when I’m getting ready, my products and brushes don’t have to come into contact with the communal area.
I got it yesterday from Amazon and it was cheap! I have a giant Kipling case that's impossibly impractical to carry around. This is like a Tardis: bigger in the inside!
The ribbon was learned from The Revision Guide. And of course I now banner everything!
Compactor bag for keeping quilt/clothes dry.
Zipza pouch from litesmith for electronics.
One of these mesh pouches for misc things like knife, spoon, compass. Sometimes I don't need it. Super cheap.
MLD packing cubes, small for FAK, and medium for tolietries (I have asthma so I need more tolietries than most.)
get yourself a tall waste paper bin made of plastic:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Colourful-Grade-Wham-Plastic-Rubbish/dp/B00FNOUWRY/ref=sr_1_105?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1484214640&sr=1-105&keywords=rubbish+bin
take the lid off
insert this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bob-Ross-Brush-Beater-Rack/dp/B000E9LEVQ/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1484214675&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=bob+ross+beater+rack
job done!
basically you "beat the devil" out of your brush inside the bin by rubbing it vigorously over the beater rack. all splatter is contained within the bin and any excess thinners can be drained back into your thinners container at the end of your painting.
A cheap thing from Amazon.
Topoomart Fountain Roller Ball Pen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP22JKM?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Something like this (link) is good. Steer clear of bags. This style (link) is borderline passable but I wouldn't put any loose pencils in the bag side. Just be careful not to drop or jostle them too much as it will most likely break the leads in the wood.
Its a lihit lab slim pencil case. here is the link:)
Do people's backpacks really not have a pencil holder? Even my climbing bag has a place where you could at least sort of organize pens and pencils, and when I'm in a tree writing to me is about as useful as a DVD rewinder.
I don't know, I guess I don't understand pencil cases. If you don't have a backpack and want something slim then there's stuff like this and if you're going to carry a lot then there are bigger ones. I guess I just like to have a place for things, more than just "here's a sack full of stuff I use".
As msghmr mentioned, Futurlec ships the grab bags in labeled small plastic baggies. I ended up consolidating equal value components, relabeling when necessary, and then put the baggies in a plastic drawer setup.
It took about an hour or two of pulling off the tape from every single component and rebagging, but it's well worth it. Now I can open the <1KOhm resistor drawer, flip through the sorted bags in there, pull out the bag I want, and grab the resistors I need -- and similarly with caps, diodes, ICs, and transistors.
akro mills storage cabinets. theseor these
sort by type, takes longer to sort at first, but so worth it.
For crocheting, does she have anything like this?
Miles Kimball Knitting Tote Bag, 18 x 11 x 1 inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MJ789MI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_h7M4DbGGEM4A0
Or a smaller size
Yarn Boss Yarn Bag, Travel With Yarn and all Notions - Yarn Storage To Organize Multiple Projects and Keep Your Yarn Safe and Clean - Wide Grommets Stop Tangling for Best Crochet Bag or Knitting Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H4OMPUW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_S7M4DbGHPS1KN
I crochet and this would be super cool for traveling and organizing.
The one linked is for craft paints which come in larger bottles.
I use three of this item
https://www.amazon.com/OPHIR-Pigment-Storage-Cabinet-Organizer/dp/B077TGW5QH/ref=sr_1_4?hvadid=77721733440689&hvbmt=be&hvdev=t&hvqmt=e&keywords=hobby+paint+rack&qid=1574810271&sr=8-4
Painting can be definitely be messy if you let it be, but a roll of paper towels and a brush beater rack should help you keep the mess to a minimum.
To start, there's always the Happy Little Beginner's Guide. If you still have questions after reading the guide, feel free to post them here.
What storage containers do you use (or have you used) for your various bits and baubles?
What were the advantages/disadvantages? I'm thinking of trying to standardize on just a few types of storage and don't want to back myself into a corner.
I use craft organizers. You can usually find something like this at hobby stores. Otherwise, tackle boxes are fantastic for...well...everything. I've built multiple first-aid kits out of tackle boxes.
BONUS!!
Yes. Cherries. need them now.
I've used the little plastic organizers (like for tackle) with small plastic bags for a portable solution, but would definitely prefer a small drawer set (with the bags) for a more permanent solution.
Note: links are only for examples, not recommendations of products.
I also throw part of the hardware packaging in with the bags for labeling and always have a marker near the boxes for custom labeling if needed.
I've just ordered this today.
If you're interested, I can drop my opinions and images of it when it arrives.
This is both nifty and integral to my human spirit, because I crochet a lot, and I have an entire room full of yarn that I would love to cram in to something actually made for holding yarn. Coffee cans work and all, but then all my finished projects smell like coffee, which not everyone enjoys.
Also anything to do with dragons, because they're my spirit animal. <3
A lie about me: I lost my front tooth in a wrestling match with a bear. That's right. I wrestled a bear once. (seriously, though, this is actually what I tell people when they ask about my missing tooth. Most have believed me...)
I needed something which was easily accessible, large, and cheap. These ended up being ideal. I also put basic shelf liners in them to keep the minis from sliding around when you open and shut the drawers. If I can't see all my minis at a glance, I tend to forget which ones I have and some may not get used because of that. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00447PDG6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

I can't think of a normal-sized "bookbag backpack" that wouldn't accommodate this and more. If you need to separate these things, get some mesh pockets from Amazon for $8 for an eight-pack: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07695CFPX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can do what you're describing with a very basic pack; I do it myself (I throw a few books in there, too--I like to read paper, still).
I got this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00019JP8S

I bought a very similar one on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MJ789MI
Is there a reason it must be custom? There are a lot of production ones that are very nice as well.
For leather, I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Pensemble-Pocket-Cowhide-Brown/dp/B005K7H7KE
There's also http://nockco.com/
Here's what I use, and I find it really helpful:
http://www.amazon.com/10744-44-Drawer-Hardware-Craft-Cabinet/dp/B00019JP8S
I use a toolbox on wheels that divides into ~10 sections for power tools, hand tools, screws, bolts, etc. etc. etc. (So I can roll that shit down to the cars when husband duties call)
I also use something like this for non tool materials and loose items. Heavy tools generally stay on the work bench and are bolted down where appreciate.
iDream365 Upgraded Hard Pencil Case Box for Audlts,Durable Pen Carrying Case with Zipper-Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXM6LGS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sWmxDb4XKS4F1
It holds about 12 pens, depending on size. It was perfect for my small collection plus the highlighters and pencils, but if you have a bigger collection, it could work for just your daily carries or whatever works for you

Spending a bit of money will fix your problem.
What you need to do is buy this thing. And then put that inside of a small-ish wastebin. Something like this thing.
Then buy a big thing of turpenoid, like this for instance.
Finally you can buy this guy.
Then here's what you do. When you're ready to change paints, wipe your brush as well as you can with a paper towel. Then clean the brush off in the brush cleaning bucket (which has a screen inside of it, it's not just a bucket--very important). Your brush will be mostly soaked through with turnpenoid, and you then beat off the last bits of paint/turpenoid into the wastebin/rack combo you made.
If you spend this money up front, you will have very pleasant painting experience from now on.
Here's the uk link for that case (I just ordered one, thanks for the tip!) LIHIT LAB Pen Case, 9.4 x 1.8 x 3 inches, Black (A7552-24) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004WMWEB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ozN0CbC9Z5GNV
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07KXM6LGS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title
I've seen this recommended before on here.
Oh, sorry about that. It's basically like this: https://www.amazon.com/Shappy-Rectangular-Containers-Portable-Organizer/dp/B0746HP1N8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1536781691&sr=8-4&keywords=tins
Alright, so step one is to sand it, thank you! Any suggestions on what primer/paint to use?
You probably don't need the chip resin brush for either of those paintings, but it wouldn't hurt to own one. The master set comes with a #2 script liner so you don't really need to buy another one. It also comes with a 1" landscape but if you have the money to spare it's really convenient to have two 1" and 2" brushes so you don't have to constantly clean them. (one with the darker shadow color and one with the highlight color, usually).
The only thing I don't see on your list is the beater rack and a trash bin to set it in. The beater rack is what dries the brush, unless you paint in an area where you don't care about paint splattering and can just dry it on the eisel like bob does. It can also be bought in a combo pack that comes with the screen, bucket, and thinner.
There are also some colors that don't come with the master set that bob uses often. You can definitely get by with the colors in the set, but you may want to check the beginners guide and see if you want any other colors.
The cloth it's on isn't actually a pouch, and is more just a piece of fabric I sewed together. The reason why I use fabric to put the pens on is that the bands on pens can become scratched over time. I really try to limit and avoid that scratching, so if the pens aren't in their case, they're on this cloth. I carry it with me everywhere, and when I'm doing a lot of writing, I'll lay it out over the table I'm at. My plan is to sew a new one within a month or so, the idea being is I want more padding and correctly sized for the pens I carry (this one is a bit bigger, intended for Bento box when I created it).
If you're looking for a good pen roll/pouch, I really like the Pilot rolls. You can find one here:
https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Pensemble-Pocket-Cowhide-Brown/dp/B005K7H7KE
I have two of them, one in black, and one in cowhide. That's what these pens sit in when I travel (unless the pens came with their own pouch, and 3 of the pens here do). I also carry a traveling inkwell in my pouch as well.
I haven't had to move it yet (other than just around my house) but we use
this storage cabinet and I would imagine with some foam strategically placed it would be just fine to move around with
we did happen to find an old overhead projector whose case fit around this storage cabinet perfectly which I would use if moving with all my minis
we also store things other than minis in ours like terrain (both the original cardboard and these stone ones) and tokens in this style holder
Ok good, that is what I was leaning toward. I'll be taking them all apart later today. I'm also thinking about getting some sort of container with small drawers for storage, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00019JP8S/ref=mp_s_a_28?pi=75x65&qid=1346178804&sr=8-28
This is the American Amazon. I found it on my Canadian one for less so maybe search around if a couple dollars means anything to you: https://www.amazon.com/UNIWENT-Twilight-Bandage-Synthetic-Leather/dp/B00EQUTLLY
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EQUTLLY/ref=ya_st_dp_summary. Just a couple bucks with ftee shipping, i havent gotten mine yet but should be good
We're similar, you and I!
I'm strongly considering a peg board for my tools and such, because I think it looks nicer and keeps stuff handy.
Right now most of our spare parts are in boxes and a cloth shopping bag. We're considering a drawer system, kinda like this one or something like that on the wall.
I work in IT and have a relatively active rotation of pens. I take a lot of notes daily, so its nice to have a few different writing options depending on my mood.
I carry them in this pen wrap, which sits inside of my messenger bag with other bits and pieces. My office also provides free Clairfontain paper, which is pretty sweet.
Cosmos Hard Plastic Clear 36 Compartment Jewelry Storage Box Organizer with Removable Dividers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L1UJXTW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i2QQBb1D6GAKE
Something like this or some sort of storage container for like pills, or fishing bait. You can probably find them at your local craft store, Walmart, or amazon like the link!
I'd recommend buying some cheap Chinese fountain pens for outside the house. Wing Sung 3008, Wing Sung 3003, Jinhao 51A, Jinhao x750. All of those are $5 and under.
You can have expensive pens at home, but buy a large case. Have a designated spot for this case, like say your desk, and it just doesn't leave that spot.
LIHIT LAB Pen Case, 7.9 x 2 x 4.7 inches, Yellow Green (A7551-6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WMWC6W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cSsDCbC6269E7
Topoomart Fountain Roller Ball Pen Case Holder PU Leather Bag for 12 Pens Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP22JKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TSsDCbC7VYQBM
These are some bright colored cases that would be easier to find if misplaced. I've never lost a pen, but I keep the ones I have inked in a case when I'm not writing with them and my uniked pens are in a storage bin.
There's no reason why you can't own fountain pens if you enjoy the hobby. You just need to adjust your behavior/ system in order to properly care for them.
Fountain Roller Ball Pen Case... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XNVV2C2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Go to a dollar store and look for a pencil case it will fit in! Just one of the small zippy kinds. One like this would be really awesome, too. You could put spare coils and such in the extra sections.
Another option I'd like to suggest is trying out the iSub Apex. If you have the original iSub or iSub G (which I'm assuming since you mentioned leaking, lol), you'll love the Apex for sure. It's next to impossible to make leak, no matter what you do.
Like these: https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Hinged-Plastic-Trading-Storage/dp/B005FSWSZM/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1540415156&sr=8-20&keywords=playing+cards+case
For game components like miniatures and dice, I like these types of cases: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L1UJXTW/ref=sxts_kp_lp_3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=8778bc68-27e7-403f-8460-de48b6e788fb&pd_rd_wg=5CFXk&pf_rd_r=RJGM5RHN067EPRPV971T&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-top-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B00L1UJXTW&pd_rd_w=wmwYN&pf_rd_i=tackle+box+organizer&pd_rd_r=8ea6e90a-e326-4cf2-bee5-fb3c08858644&ie=UTF8&qid=1540415260&sr=3
I picked up this one from Amazon. I'll pick up a good quality leather one someday, but in the interim, cheap is OK.
I got one of these and stained it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AIDBGC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_FbspybQS63FJN I keep silica beads in there and keep it out of the bathroom. It'd be nice to have them on display somewhere. Maybe in the next house.
>Derwent pocket pencil wrap
Do you have a link? I see this one on Amazon, but no reference to a pocket. It would be nice to have something pocket sized to help protect pens.

I have a few packs of wooden buttons that i use for lots of different crafts. But, i know that not everyone needs/likes wooden buttons, so i'm not going to link them. xD
But, these pencil cases make me feel super fancy when i use them. They're pretty useful for other things as well - one of my friends uses them for her make-up brushes and stuff like that.
Another of my favorite things i've purchased myself are these small zipper pouches. They fit sharpie sized pens/pencils rather well. I use them for my outdoor drawing kits when i teach my Nature Journaling class.
Last one. If you're into pokemon, there are some small sized plushies that are less than $5 ;)
Also here to suggest tackleboxes such as these.

Thanks for the contest!
This stocking stuffer would be used for my paint brushes!
