It is a handle that you put into a car door jamb to help get in and out of the car.

Edit: it also has a seat belt cutter and glass breaker.

I ended up purchasing a grab handle for jeeps/off roading rigs. One of the best purchases I’ve made for my OW; it makes lugging it around more like a suitcase.

Grab handles, if anyone short or old is going to be riding in your jeep. In my 2 door, I have one of these by the corner of the window on the passenger side, and another further back on the passenger side for getting in and out of the rear seat (when that isn't sitting on a shelf in my garage).

Also, if you have a 2 door, a rolling shelf/cart with locking casters that you can store the rear seat on. I have one adjusted to the right height to make getting the seat in and out a lot less trouble.

It's an auto escape / rescue tool. Here's a similar one on Amazon.

Someone once made muffins for Pluto,

At tea drinking this woman was pro.

She loved cats, jeeps, and leather

But no matter the weather,

What she loved most of all was to... you know

A few amazon recommendations:

XR Charging port cover: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072Z41BT9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one stays on pretty well. I pretty much only put it on if there's a possibility of a rain shower on my way.

XR Power Button cover: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ISNX7LO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These don't stay on as well as the Charge Port covers, but they get the job done for possibly rainy ridge, and they're cheap enough to not worry if one falls off during a spill.

Cheap but effective handle: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPBA606/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the handle I ended up going with. It works well, though it does slide a little down the rails. So it's not always level when you pick it up. (It was on sale when I bought it.)

For a more crafty person, I'd just get some paracord and use one of the guides in this subreddit to create your own handle.

I have these. Solid purchase, used every time doors are off GraBarsUSA Genuine Solid Steel BootBars (Foot Pegs) for JK & JL Wranglers - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M68KK6U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_iGviDbTWP6CJZ

I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPBA606/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , which for $25 lacks the centering bracket, but I've had zero problems with it at all. Highly recommended, comfortable, cheap. I was excited to see this video, but the cost of the setup is obscene.

These grab handles are cheap and decent...I'll probably upgrade eventually...

The price isnt THAT bad and you're right they look snazzy!

Tough call. If it's too small then it might bend and warp the case. This might fit it nicely (It is 7 7/8 inches hole to hole): http://www.amazon.com/RV-Designer-Collection-E222-Plastic/dp/B002UC15UA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1463980622&sr=8-6&keywords=8+inch+handle

Maybe a portable car handle?

I've never used one or seen one used, but it might be useful?

Great minds think alike, Parkie. I ordered those things for one of the PWP in our support group.

We didn't try the seat belt helper you linked, but now that I see it I think that could be a big help to him.

The standing assist was a hit--it helps a lot getting out of the car. It's also called a car cane.

The swivel seat didn't work for him because he was too tall--it's about 1.5 inches high and he didn't have enough headroom. Swivel seats come in differing heights, so check that out if anyone here is interested in trying one.

Something else you might want to check out is a rigid seat belt extender. The one I linked is for Jeep Cherokees, so do a search for your own car model. This extends the seat belt connector 8 inches up in the air, so now the PWP can connect his own seat belt. Before this, his wife would have to crawl over him to do up the seatbelt.

I'm wondering if anyone has rigged their car up with a seat like this? The whole seat swivels, the lowers down to the ground so the PWP just has to sit down like a regular chair.

I'm looking at getting one of these and mounting it to the dash to the left of the steering wheel.

My giggle story now- because at the time I was a nervous wreck and hit every emotion lol.

*Back story- at the time I had undiagnosed PTSD (now diagnosed) and had fled an abusive stalker husband...

First night I spent at my SO house, he wakes me up shaking me at the crack of down saying in an urgent whisper "he's here! He's here!" I am racing to get dressed and ready to run... he grabs a rifle and shoots out the window!!! Says "I GOT EM!" I am thinking "Wow! How do I attract the crazies! And a GIANT WTF! WTF NOW?!?"
Then he says "look at the feathers! He won't be eating anymore of my corn" It was a freaking crow!! This crow didn't stop with any usual things like shiny stuff, fake snakes etc and haunted him for a month prior.

Things I could really use with winter coming are on my Winter 2017 list...

Grab bars $10.99 to help me not fall on my butt with the ice - I am not graceful and tend to break bones :/

Touch up Paint $13.22
I have surface rust on my 20yr old jeep and trying to keep it alive. It's it's second winter and I don't want the salt to eat holes in it

Wool Socks $9.99 To try not to freeze lol. My dog refuses to let me have slippers...

Pretty much anything on my Winter / Winter 2017 list would be amazing :)

Thank you for the contest ❤️❤️❤️
