>And there isn't much to check. Unless the radiator cap is visibly damaged or broken, you won't know if it will actually vent at the correct pressure.

I actually have a nifty after market gas cap for my car that I got ages ago that really helps with that.

Though there are just some days I look down at my hands and go "seriously?" when they refuse to do something they could do fine the day before...

Edit: This isn't the brand, but it is this style!

The Toyota part number is 16401-63010 for a MK2, I think it's the same for a MK1 though.

EDIT: Just checked, it's the same - http://toyota-europe.epc-data.com/mr2/aw11r/2671/engine/1603/16520A/

You can even order it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-16401-63010-Radiator-Sub-Assembly/dp/B00GD313P4

I got one of these, they self key. I also got one of these, which need tumblers installed.

For the gas cap, stay the hell away from dealerships to key it. One wouldn't do it unless I ordered the cap through them, and the other wanted $80 and said they couldn't guarantee they could key it correctly. I went to a reputable locksmith and it took 20 minutes and cost $15. I'd also recommend this, and I used silicone lube in the gas cap tumbler since it would stick at first. Haven't had an issue since.

edit: I linked to the wrong locking gas cap.

Thanks for the recommendations. Coleman's has 4 for $99 used which is pretty good.

Here are some links and reviews of No-Spill.

A fuel transfer pump is one option.

Another option is to replace your gas can nozzle if it is slow, I just converted all of mine to something like this:

Now I can fill 5 gallons in about a minute.

Got it. I'm talking about a pressure RELIEF cap. I've got the Stant. These have a lever that allows you to release the pressure prior to opening. Of course you can open factory caps when hot... if you like playing the crack, close, crack, close game, risking leopard burn spots on arms and legs, etc.

This is the style I have. I didn't look at the part number for this one, so don't buy without looking up.

Also found some aluminum ones.

In theory, one of these green caps should fit a Mk4. I decided that I didn't need to order one, since I'm the only person that ever fills my tank.

you might want a new cap. Ford changed the reservoir cap spring design because the old one would drop from 16psi to usually in a lot of cases 13psi and that lower pressure caused big problems for some folks. New caps are normal for maintenance and I bought this one recently to replace my 14 year old one:http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-RS-527-Radiator-Pressure-Cap/dp/B0034RKNPS?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I put a rubber cap over the end of the line. Can usually get a set at the auto parts store. They are made in different sizes to cover unused vacuum ports on an engine.

Crazy, I was just searching for this myself earlier this morning. This was the only one that I found that fit my 2nd gen Tacoma. Stant 10509 Locking Fuel Cap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C7YQ24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kwPDxbWKQ5AV3

An amazon search yielded this. Not quite sure it's what you're looking for.
