Mine had cradle cap that didn't clear up on its own, so here's what we did:

  • Rub baby oil into his scalp, lay him on a towel and let it soak in for about 10 minutes
  • Comb the flakes out with a very fine comb (this one)
  • Cover his head with baby shampoo-- not the soap-plus-shampoo, but this stuff meant for newborns-- and let it sit for a few minutes
  • Buff his head with a washcloth and the scrubby bit of the comb
  • Rinse and shampoo a second time

    We did that routine several times and by the third or fourth time, the scales were gone. We took a bath every night with the shampoo for a while, just to keep things clean, and it's stayed clear since.
